Description

It's true! There is a filter that stops more dirt, yet manages to crank out the same power gains as the leading paper and gauze performance filters. It's the True Flow foam air filter.

The secret is a foam labyrinth of tiny interlock cells coated with a flame-retardant, non-drying oil. Dirt is trapped in the sticky twists and turns of the maze, never to find its way to your engine. At the same time, air breezes through the filter, which is 97% air itself.

Under normal conditions, the True Flow can go up to 50,000 miles between cleanings and oilings - True Flow Cleaning Kit with Foam Oil sold separately. Truth be told, the True Flow is the last air filter you'll ever need.

Notes

  • True Flow Cleaning and Maintenance Kit with Foam Oil sold separately.

That's a lot of oil!

"I like the theory behind the filter, and I followed the instructions to work the oil into the filter and wipe off excess. But man that seems like a LOT of oil! I hope that "tacky" oil does not fly into my MAF. I'll know more with any performance gains in a few weeks. I'll try to remember to report back then."

"I have a 2001 Toyota tundra and it installed very easily. Right away I could tell the engine was breathing a little better and sounded a little better. I was thinking of getting a cold air intake but cheaped out. I don't know if the gas milage is any better but I can tell a very slight increase in acceleration. I would recomend this filter to anyone that is thinking about it. The information on it says that the foam allows the engine to breathe better and holds more dirt then paper or gauze. That is why I chose it. I hope this helps someone in their decision."

"Have put a tank of gas through the car after installation and havn't noticed a big boost in power or gas milage, but I like the fact that this will be the last filter I buy for my car. Also purchased the cleaning kit and this filter will pay for itself."

"Was a little tight getting the airbox closed but at least I know it is a tight seal. Havn't noticed any diffrence over my factory filter. I didn't buy it for a performance mod I just wanted better overall protection for my 140,000 mile engine thats in my 01."

"I put a trueflow filter in all my dirtbikes and ATVs. so when I got my 03 Silverado, I decided to get one for it as well. This filter is phenomenal over the stock paper filters, plus the oil blocks out the water, dirt, and grime. Another added bonus is how durable and long lasting they are! all you need to do is wash them and re-apply the oil every 20-40K miles."

Good Improvement, Great Air Filter!!!

Posted on 01/23/2008 by Bret P. - 1997 Acura CL (Stockton,CA)

4 of 5 people found the following review helpful.

"I installed TrueFlow air filters on a 2006 6.0 GMC/Chevy V8 and on a 1997 Acura/Honda 3.0 V6. These filters do flow slightly better, so fuel economy increased from 25mpg to 26mpg on the Acura (not noticeable on the GMC). To increase power and fuel economy more, I modified the Acura airbox and now get 27-28mpg. It's nice that their service interval is high (30,000 miles), and that the filter catches MUCH MORE dirt than paper or gauze filters."

1997 Tacoma...True Flow

Posted on 09/29/2007 by Mark C. - 1997 Toyota Tacoma (Rochester Hills,MI)

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful.

"The True Flow air filter seems to work quite well on my Tacoma, however, I was disappointed to find no performance or MPG gains on my 2000 Honda Accord V6. The Tacoma, however, has shown marked improvement in take off, but have not seen any MPG gains. It sounds throating when you hit the gas on the Toyota though, and I have to admit that I like that."

"Service was good From Auto anything as well as the price, As for the filter, I went for this over the K&N because of the True flow video, A filter is suppose to stop dirt from getting into the engine. Which The True Flow appears to do so better, at least in the video it does. And if it allows more air into the engine even better. I believe I maybe getting a little better throttle response. But if you want more power, air you most likely will need to get the Air intake also. Other wise a filter that I don’t have to throw away will pay for it self in time and save on trash"

"At 300 miles of testing there has been no detectable dust getting through, and no oil has migrated through the filter. No detectable performance improvement, and mpg are about the same. This filter will pay for itself in no time. Much better than replacing paper filters every 10K miles."
