Colly O6; AEM Brute Force Air Intake System

Posted on 10/20/2006 by Jaime T. - 2006 Chevy Colorado (Eugene,OR)

"New Brute Forece Air Intake looks great. Installation was fairly simple, however I had to massage the filter metal enclosure in order for the screw holes to line up and plug additional port used on 04-05 Colorado. As for power and MPG increase, I cann't say for sure. I installed a Magnaflow exhaust the day after. Overall I'm satisfied with the Brute Force and it gives me peace of mind knowing AEM filters didn't void my intake air flow sensor warranty."

Cool Cold Air

Posted on 10/12/2006 by Randy E. - 2002 Toyota Tundra (Littleton,CO)

"Would be a great system if the hot air dam fit better. It allows too much hot air into the filter, will modify it to seal better. Did have to richen the mixture on split second controller for supercharger vs. stock box with TRD filter."

"No problems with vendor or product. Have only driven 100 miles (in town) Definately notice a difference in performance. I pull a 29 ft. trailer and will get a handle on mileage and performance on a 1000 mile trip later this month. The only mod I had to make was to use a HD nylon tie strap around the metal pipe to pull the paper cone shaped filter from touching the battery tray, that would have worn a hole in the filter. Mostly satisfied. Bob Tucson,AZ"

Posted on 10/02/2006 by Jose E. - 2006 Jeep Commander (Valrico,FL)

"I luv the sound of my engine now!... woo-hoo... the directions were 70% correct... there was no need to loosen the screws for the hood release and there was a screw under the air filter box that was not in the directions. but, other than that... it installed as advertised and I am seeing an increase in performance and MPG... AWESOME...!"

"Took my buddie and me about a hour to install but I will say it installed a crap load easier than the SLP CAI I put on my Formula. Aside from not being as easy to install as everyone said I am enjoying the system and the new sound from under the hood. Good product considering the options."

"Installed the Brute Force on my '96 Saleen S281. Install was relatively easy. Found that the bracket only bolted in one place, and that there is not a heat shield included for the Mustang 4.6 application(picture is deceiving). Lots of "whoosh"--noticeable sound and performance."

AEM Brute Force Scores 5 Star Rating!!

Posted on 09/20/2006 by Jeff N. - 2001 Toyota 4Runner (Ruston,LA)

"Install was simple, anyone with a few tools can do it, it helps if you have a long extension for reaching deep in there to unscrew a few bolts holding the air box in place. I am really liking this Intake, I sold my stock one on ebay for $125 with free shipping, I should have asked alot more becuase UPS cost $42 to ship it, however I still made $83 so really this intake only cost me $121. The sound is so much different now. When I gas it, you can hear the air sucking in but when I really give it more gas, the engine sounds so nice, sounds like a big V8, I like how you can hear the cylinders firing, I'm tempted to goose it all the time just so I can hear the engine get loud, normal driving though and normal exceleration is hardly different than stock, you almost don't know its there. So it can be quiet if you want it to and it can really kick it up a notch if you step on it. Overall I give this unit a 10. I haven't driven an entire tank on it yet so I dont know if it effects gas mileage or not, I hope to get another 2-3 miles per gallon. We will see."

Difficult to install.

Posted on 09/20/2006 by Craig Y. - 2006 Ford Mustang (Montrose,PA)

"It was a difficult install that took two pros an hour to get in. There is no seperation from the hot engine air just a plate one one side. The car doesn't sound any different than before the install. I had the car tunned and dynoed just after the install so I can't be sure if the CAI is responsibe for the dramatic increase in power and the 15% increase in fuel economy. It looks great under the hood."

Brute Force

Posted on 09/15/2006 by Justin B. (Lakeland,FL)

"I installed the Brute Force on my Nissan Titan. Fairly simple install. At one point my 9 year old had to help back up nuts in the engine compartment while I tightened from the fender well. Love the sound of the motor and I definately feel the difference. I recommend this intake system do anyone looking for a little more power an a lot more rumble."

"The intake looks great under the hood and it does sound nicer...adds a nice growl to the engine. However, the heat shield was too tall and my hood wouldn't close. I had to cut an inch off the top to make it fit. Can't say much for gas milage, Ill need to go through a few more tanks to see."
