"This looks great under the hood. It was a snap to install; only took about 20 mins. The power is noticable at higher RPMS as well as a nice growl to it. I havent noticed too large of a gas increase but still is worth it for the power, maybe time will show better MPG."

"On the money. I am not mad, everything that was said, it is, all except for the gas saving, but then again, I have a 5.7 Hemi. But it definitely gives more power to my already powerful Durango."

lots of noise

Posted on 03/21/2006 by Ryan R. (Freeport,PA)

"I am happy with the product but not with the performance. It was a breeze to install but I thought that there would but a bit more bottom end pull. The noise is that of a four barrel but that is about the extent of the performance. I am going to try a cat-back system and see if that helps."

"The Brute Force Intake System was everything I was expecting and more! The sound behind it is awesome. If you have an aftermarket exhaust you havent heard it roar untill you have an AEM intake system on! Installation was quite easy the instructions wernt the best however they did help. I do now recieve about 2 more miles per gallon of gas with this small bolt on. Overall it was well worth the money and the 30min it took me to install!"

2004 Durango 5.7Hemi + AEM Brut Force = Awezoom

Posted on 03/19/2006 by J. J. B. - 2004 Dodge Durango (Fairfax,VA)

"I was planning to buy the Mopar CAI but after reading several reviews that AEM Brute Force and the Mopar are exactly the same, I went for the AEM and saved over $70 including the !0% discount from Autoanything. This is CAI from AEM is better than the Injen CAI that I installed on my Miata. My Durango now feels that its ready to jump everytime I step on the gas. Maybe all psychological but it does improve the exhaust sound of the D. The installation is also pretty straight forward. It took me 2.5 hours but it's because I didn't have all the tools. Definitely recommended."

Install issues Ford V10

Posted on 03/18/2006 by Stan C. - 2002 Ford F-250 (Salinas,CA)

"Installation was more difficult than I thought it would be. The kit did not come with Nylock nuts as it should have and the amount of pipe to clamp the filter onto seems to have been cut too short. It took 5 tries to get the filter to stay on the pipe without the clamp sliping off as there was less than a 1/4 inch of pipe to clamp to. With that said, I noticed almost one full MPG immediately once it was installed. Power increase is moderate and there is slightly more noticble intake sound during heavy acceleration. Overall a good product, however AEM needs to work on install problems."

AEM cold air induction on 2006 QX56

Posted on 03/17/2006 by Irv L. (Westlake Village,CA)

"Pros: Better throttle response, perceptible bump in acceleration, possibly minimal improvement in fuel consumption. Aural stimulation quite impressive when accelerating, quiet on cruising Con (relative): Probably need to reprogram transmission to take full advantage of power bump; if mechanically competent, can self-install, but I opted for professional installation to avoid trial and error and easily saved hours Overall: great choice; glad I did it"

Poor AEM feedback!!!

Posted on 03/17/2006 by Bradley H. - 2002 Ford Explorer (White Hall,MD)

"I have a 2002 ford explorer, intake came in and showed for a 2001-2003 ford ranger. I called autoanything, great service! They told me that AEM says this model will fit my SUV. I hooked it up not being able to attach the three brackets and the label upside down! The intake on a ranger comes from the middle and mine comes from the top. I would rate this intake a .5! It sounds okay and havenot saw an increase in gas milage, possibly torque can't tell. I have had it on for 2 weeks and everytime i start my car it shakes because I am not able to bracket it in becuase it DOES NOT FIT MY CAR!!!! But AEM says it does :( Autoanything was great in assisting me and even check AEM's site to make sure. I give them A+++++++ But the product is very poor!"

Air intake performance

Posted on 03/17/2006 by Dennis D. - 2005 Pontiac GTO (Plainville,CT)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"I installed the AEM brute force air intake about aweek ago. The instructions were pretty good with pictures, and everything fit together well the general fit and finish was ok but he inside surface of the 90 degree rubber elbow that connects to the 90 MM throttle body was very rough and uneven not a very smooth transition for the air to make. As far as engine performance goes I noticed an increase in gas millage maybe 3mpg not bad, but I didin't notice any boost in performance and it feels like I lost power at lower RPM. MY evaluation is still on going."

AEM Bruteforce- more power, no extra MPG

Posted on 03/16/2006 by Larry S. - 2001 Ford F-150 (Northford,CT)

"Installation was easy, disassembly of some of the Ford stuff was not. Got more power over 2000 RPM, but with no change in driving habits-like not abusing the increased power- got no better MPG. Still stuck at 13 MPG on my F-150 5.4L"

AEM 21-8302DP - 5.9liter Grand Cherokee

Posted on 03/13/2006 by Robert B. - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Morgantown,WV)

"Packaging was 100% satisfactory! One BIG MINUS was the heat-shield included was for the wrong model vehicle, hence my setup isn't using one. I haven't contacted AEM or A-A about this at present. Another small issue is the clearance of the air-hat to the mounting surface of the throttle-body; the fit just isn't quite right. I went to Advance Auto and picked up some generic throttle-body-to-air tube gaskets (2) and that helped a bit. The pluses... GREAT SOUND! The engine hisses a bit upon start-up, but depending on your take on the extra noise this could be good or a small annoyance. The performance... Prevalent. I switched from an open cone (similar to this kit) attached to the accordion hose on the stock setup. There is a VERY NOTICEABLE acceleration in second gear through final converter lockup. The gas mileage... Small INCREASE. As long as you keep your foot out of the gas you'll see a nice increase especially when compared to a stock filter system. Traditionally, a trip of 450 miles with a mix of hills and flats would net my 23 gallon tank about 348 miles total. I now enjoy netting about 380-400 miles every tank. I could possibly see more, though I wouldn't be driving a 5.9 liter if I were very conscious of gas mileage v. a dollar. Overall, I am pleasantly satisfied with this product. I have effectively been able to install this product and not worry about it."
