No hassle install on 2005 Mustang

Posted on 09/04/2007 by Robert L. - 2005 Ford Mustang (Palm Bay,FL)

"The AEM Air Intake installation instructions were concise, but clear. There were no problems. It took ~45 minutes from start to finish. My V6 ran rough at first upon acceleration with no load. But, I took it out on the road and blew it out a little and that seemed to clear it up and carbon came out with the condensation from the exhaust. This product definitely improved my Mustangs response time when the gas peddle is pushed. Even though everything seems fine, I'm still hoping that ne adjustments in tuning are needed. Thanks."

"I installed this on a 2007 Siverado Z71 new body style with a 5.3L engine. Not impressed, mileage decreased by 1 to 1.25 mpg on the highway and engine does not have that throaty deep sound when you get on it.Intake system is not sturdy enough for me. Old air box took air from fender well where the air is cooler. This system is open to the engine compartment where the air is hotter. I do not like the design and will be taking it off. It's an expensive chew toy for my dogs. I guess I was expecting a noticeable difference in power, mileage and sound and did not get it. This is only my opinion, results may vary."

Awesome performance, bad installation

Posted on 08/22/2007 by Mike R. - 2000 Dodge Dakota (New Castle,PA)

"Out of all of the aftermarket intakes that I have installed I would have to say this was one of the worst installations. I have an AEM in my '05 Dodge Ram and didn't have any issues with the installation of it, however, this one required a lot of modification to the vehicle. I was also missing the clamp that is used for the filter, which was rather disappointing!! Other than that the performance is what I expected from an AEM Brute Force intake."

"We work in the oil and gas industry with all vehicles needing to pull heavy load - therefore we use diesel powered vehicles. We also work in areas that are extremely dusty - the AEM Brute Force keeps our power at the level we need - you can hear the whine of the motor working hard and efficient with this intake. Our mileage and performance improves - thanks"

VROOOOOOOOM

Posted on 07/24/2007 by Anthony V. - 2007 Nissan Titan (West Newbury,MA)

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.

"Straightforward install. Nice fit & finish and well thought out. The only difficult part was removing the old air intake with my fat fingers. The metal housing fits well against the hood of the truck via 3 rubber seals (should be designed as one piece.). The filter element is absolutely huge! It’s clear this item was maximized for performance. (9” long, 6” W at the base and 5” W at the top with deep filter folds – lots of surface area) It really allows the Titan’s 32 valves to sing loud and clear. Although my wife never mentioned the sound as I passed another vehicle at WOT. But I said HOLY CRAP! The dry (no oil) filter element is the only type I would use on my vehicles. Based on reported issues with MAFs while oiled elements were used and confirming first-hand knowledge with a factory-fresh oiled element being the cause of a MAF failure (a Mazda), only marketing B.S. explains why K&N type CAIs are so successful. My optimistic guestimate of a 0.5 mpg improvement over stock (a 3.3% increase in gas mileage for my truck) will not save enough in gas to ever pay for itself. But the commanding roar the AEM CAI makes under heavy acceleration serves as a handy reminder that fuel is being sucked into the engine at an expensive pace. That’s the only way this product saves money. Other than that, it’s a lot of fun!"

"Product took a little bit more than common sense to put it on my 2001 Toyota Tundra SR5. Nothing more than anybody can do. The product worked instantly. Sounds mean and i sopose a slight increase in gas mileage. That is, if you can keep your foot off the throttle to show off your AEM Brute Force Intake to everyone that you pass going down the street or give a ride. :)"
