Ever since I was in high school, K&N filters were the best. I have use it in all of my cars that I have had and will continue using them in the future. Recently purchase one for my '01 E38 740iL.

I installed a panel-type K&N in my BMW 540i. Installation was straightforward- the filter fit perfectly. I did not notice a significant increase in performance (since the BMW has a decent intake design), but the filter quality and longetivity will be a benefit.

Had heard of K & N for high performance motors. Decided to try on 97 BMW 540 and 2000 Mercedes S430. Both have 60K to 70 K Performance - speed of acceleration especially at low end RPMs is stronger. Have not tried high speed or RPMs as don't drive that way. BMW is quicker, but lighter car with nearly same motor size as heavier Mercedes. Best suprise is improved gas milage. Just under 3 miles/gallon on high way. With high gas prices - esp premium nice bonus. Will buy again, but sooner in cars life. lrk

I drive an M5 and can not believe I waited this long to install KN filters. I could feel the difference the first time I drove the car. Well worth it.
