Yes it's more expensive than disposable filters but it's better quality and I always bought the stock Nissan filters which were overpriced anyway. Best part is these don't go into the landfill. Can't say there's any noticeable performance improvement. I'm sure if you are replacing a filthy filter you'll notice a difference. If you want performance you need to go with an aftermarket intake system AND an improved air flow filter.

Have not noticed any significant change, but MPG is up slightly.. from about 17 city to 20 city.. Overall a good replacement for impossible to find stock filters

Purchased my dream car new in 1991 (Nissan 300ZX) and it's still running strong after 240,000 miles. Now days, however, parts are hard to find and expensive when you can find them. In particular, nobody stocks air filters. Finaly dawned on me...K&N! Installed easily and work great. Wish I'd bought them in '91. I'd have saved a lot of money spent on lesser filters.
