It serves its purpose, but it's really not needed. I seriously doubt you'll suck water into your engine unless you sink your front end and rev, which would mess it up with or without this shield. There was a shipping problem too and it took entirely too long for it to get to my house. if you're really concerned about hydrolocking, go for it. I wouldn't recommend it though

I ordered the Hydro Shield for appearance as well as function. I use a C.A.I. and the filter area is not an enclosed system. I live in a very dusty environment and the Hydro Shield offers an extra layer of protection to my engine bay exposed filter. It also happens to match my car color nicely. Following the ordering guidelines to insure the correct size provided a nice snug fit that after a number of weeks has stayed in position. The combination of cost, function, ease of intallation, and appearance made this a perfect fit for my needs. I would reccomend this product.

I bought this product to use on a Cobb Short Ram Intake on a MazdaSpeed6. I had been worried about mist getting into the inlet air while driving behind another vehicle. Had a problem with the car starting after a food stop during a leg of a trip with a torrential downpour. Feel better now that I have the Hydroshield. Haven't had the same problem but haven't driven through the same type of storm. The size I purchased was just big enough to fit over the bottom of the intake filter. So much so that I was worried about the hydroshield slipping off. It never has but given the chance I think I would buy one that was longer than needed so I could use the screw-clamp to secure it.

I put it on like a 2 weeks ago, and it has been raining for days, and that just made me feel more confident with driving at rains even worse weather. Even with a shield on the filter, i can still hear the "woooshhh" sound when I rev it, dont feel like i lost any hp at all, feels and looks great!!!! love it, Its a must have for those people who have cold air intake!!!!! recommended 5/5 stars product!

I recently purchased this product to take away a check engine light that constantly come on during a rain storm. I had the INJEN cold are intake installed in my 07 Mazda 3 and after searching on the internet for a possible solution I stumbled upon a forum that talks about how multiple users of this setup are having the same problem. I posted a thread and soon enough, I got a response telling me to purchase this item. I recently installed and immediately on the same day it rained. I cleaned my MAF sensor and filter, and to my surprise and happiness, no CEL. Great product to purchase if your having the same problem!

The injen hydroshield is exactly how it is described. it is water REPELLENT but not water proof. before i put it on, i tested it to see its capabilities. i is good for light showers and such but not heavy rain. you would for sure get water inside your intake under seriously wet conditions. Puddles and light showers can be handles by the hydroshield. i give it a 4 out of 5 for doing precisely what it was described to do.

It's not bad, i mean; it does the job for what the amount you put down. I would've gone with a full on metal CAI shield that will protect the intake from water, blood, and guts for another $20.

When I first received the Hydro Shield I took it to the sink and bam! the water beaded up and ran off the shield perfectly, Very satisfied! Installation was a breeze, slips tightly over air filter, Be sure to order the correct size for your air filter. Since installing the CAI with Hydro Shield we have yet to get any rain so I am anticipating it's performance in real conditions, though I'm sure it will work as it did in the sink. Good Product, worth the peace of mind, must have for CAI.
