I'm not sure when it first started, but the idea of a disposable world is ridiculous. Lighters, pens, razors, and of course filters for everything has slowly turned into a disposable attitude that carries all the way up to cars, relationships and even employees. The K & N filter is a perfect example of how we can keep things for life literally and they don't become obsolete and with little concern about going out of style. Thomas Edison's first light bulb is still working yet I have to replace bulbs every year? If more company's found a way to make products you never or at least almost never had to replace I am sure people would gladly pay the extra price. Beyond the landfill is the energy it requires to make ship and sell the item over and over because it's disposable. Not to mention the time we all take to go out and get the items to replace the ones that were either designed to fail two minutes after the warranty ran out or social pressure requires us to get something new due to style or incompatibility with new products like computers and software. I hope K&N continues to make this product forever. And I hope other companies realize the importance of quality over frequency of sales.
