A few years ago I had a filter with a factory defect. The K&N dealer replaced it with one off the shelf.

I replaced the dry filter with a one inch shorter K&N. The result was a much quieter intake with an increase over stock of almost 3 mpg. All in all an inexpensive, easy to maintain performance upgrade. I've been using K&N filters for 30 years. I will continue to purchase their products.
