Despite the comments from people saying that they haven't had any problems with hydrolocking (water in your engine) even without the hydroshield, the Injen pre-filter provides me with a little more assurance. I'd rather be safe than sorry and for an additional $25 or whatever the HydroShield costs, it is more than worth it. I now feel safe driving in rain storms (3 of which sense I installed my CAI and prefilter) without the fear of hydrolocking. When combined with the protection from the plastic pieces that make up the underbody (just behind the front bumper) of most cars, the Hydroshield can pretty much guarantee that you will not experience any problems with water getting into your engine, or any debris otherwise. Now of course submerging the entire front end of your car underwater would cause you to hydrolock, but you should be able to drive in any weather (rain, snow, or ice) without fear of hydrolock.
Sincerely, Devin Charlottesville Va .
