Description

Increase performance up to 18 horsepower, add 40 lbs of torque and even save gas mileage with the Volant Cold Air Intake System! The rocket scientists at Volant have truly outdone themselves with this one.

The Hi-Flow Velocity Air Box breathes in oodles of performance-enhancing air via the massive air duct. Many Volant Cold Air Intakes also include an enclosed air box that takes power and efficiency higher. Some drivers even report an increase in gas mileage by 1 to 2 miles per gallon. What's more, it can take less than an hour using standard household tools to replace the old, suffocating factory air box.

Best yet, Volant gives most vehicles a performance filter choice: the original high-performance cotton-gauze filter with cleaning intervals of 35,000-50,000 miles, or the all-new oil-free PowerCore air filter, requiring maintenance after a whopping 100,000 miles.

Needs to be twecked for Banks System

Posted on 08/31/2007 by Thomas H. (Ben Wheeler,TX)

"It was an easy install except the tube going from the air box to the turbo needs the bends to be more radical to clear the left intercooler tube of my Banks system. That was a tough install and I had to force the filter in after the tube was in place. The box could not be bolted down until the tube was in place. I have not run any mileage on the install yet but expect improvement. The three star rating was for the tube interference and incomplete mileage check. My Ford is a 99/01 F250 Supercrew 6sp 4x4 all manual with Banks system from front to rear with a 6gun tuner."

"The product delivers everything it promises. My 2007 GMC runs great. The only real problem was the breather tube and its placement on the air intake tube."

Awsome intake!!!

Posted on 08/28/2007 by Bill S. - 2005 Nissan Frontier (Kirksville,MO)

"This intake is very well designed. Looks sharp and functions great! Sounds wicked when you get on it! Only reason I didn't give it five stars is no instructions, but wasn't to hard to put together."

Pretty good but could be better

Posted on 08/27/2007 by Chris T. (Jacksonville,FL)

"Opening the box, my first thought was that this looks like a high quality piece. I was disappointed that the instructions were essentially useless (although mostly unnecessary) and had to figure out how to make it fit a 2007 Envoy. An extra hole about 1" diameter has to be cut in the housing to connect the hose that was part of the original configuration. The throttle feels a little more responsive and there is a minimal increase in fuel mileage (.5 to 1 mpg depending on conditions)."

Volant Intake - 2005 Avalanche Application

Posted on 08/25/2007 by Ronald V. (Valdosta,GA)

"The istallation was fairly easy. It took about 45 minutes from start to finish. I immediately noticed a drastic change in my engine performance. I have not seen any gas milage improvement. My only complaint is the directions, which were far from what was needed. I had to go online and I watched a video on the Volant website for installation. Overall...Great buy!"

Posted on 08/25/2007 by Todd S. (Litchfield Park,AZ)

"Installed on 06 Toyota Tacoma 4.0L. Expected more performance gain over stock air intake system. Also, expected increased gas mileage. However, does look impressive under the hood. Overall, would recommend purchasing a less expensive air intake system."

"Aesthetics: Looks cool! Install: Mostly easy, did take a bit of maneuvering and wiggling to get the box in the right place. Performance: Cut 1/2 a second off my 0-60 times. Gives my truck a nice beefy sound under the hood on exceleration. Value: Good. I would recommend this product!"

Posted on 08/22/2007 by Benny S. (Sun Valley,CA)

"The PROS ON THIS PRODUCT IS- THAT I GAINED NOTICEABLE HP ON ACCELLLERATION AND A DEEPER SOUND. I AM HAPPY WITH THAT! THE CONS ON THIS PRODUCT IS- THE BREATHER HOSE CAME ABOUT 3 INCHES SHORT.AND THE DUCT LOOKS LIKE S***! IT HAS ALOT OF SCRAPES & SCRATCHES RIGHT IN THE FRONT OF IT. OVERALL I WOULD BUY THIS PRODUCT AGAIN IF VOLANT WOULD HIRE PEOPLE THAT KNOWS HOW TO USE A MEASURING DEVICE, AND INSPECT A PRODUCT BEFORE IT IS SHIPPED!!!"

Volant Intake w/ Scoop

Posted on 08/22/2007 by Daniel D. (Bennington,VT)

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.

"Installed on a 05 TRD Sport Tacoma 4.0l 4wd. Stock intake over 12k miles averaged 18.3 mpg, swapped with K&N warm air intake and single in dual out flowmaster system and over 36k miles averaged 19.1 mpg. With volant intake and scoop with same exhaust average 17.4 mpg over 2k miles thus far. 0 performance gain over K&N and mildly over stock also noticed engine runs 5-8 degrees warmer with scoop versus without. All conditions per intake are virtually the same. The only thing I truly like about the Volant is how well it looks under the hood. The loss in gas mileage over stock was very disappointing. Yes I reset the ECU every time I upgraded so that it can remap the fuel/air ratios etc. All in all not worth the money."

hummer H3 woke up

Posted on 08/21/2007 by Mike W. (Rockwall,TX)

"The Volant cold air intake woke up the every powerless H3. I installed it along with the TBS. Test drove it. It was definitely an improvment but still this truck needed more so I put the power chip in it. That made another improvment. Very satisfied with the product overall. Hey we need more power out of these H3's Will somebody slap GM and tell them to get with the game allready. This truck is gutless without the accessaries. Thanks for picking up GM's SLACK."

Honestly

Posted on 08/21/2007 by Aaron M. (Portland,OR)

"Ok,I definately noticed a DIFFERENCE IN PERFORMANCE. That said, Volant needs to pay more attention to individual car specs. Getting the Volant into my frontier took just short of a hammer. There was no room to fit the secondary air scoop that fed from the lower engine compartment, and some of the installation screws did not match up. With that said, it did install, it looks pretty, and it performs. P.S. Mister Volant screener, as you have read, I am honest and handy, I would be perfect for Volant fine tuning, for a modest product fee."

Posted on 08/21/2007 by Derek R. - 2001 Ford Ranger (Iron River,WI)

"Overall I am impressed with the Volant Intake. You can notice the gain in hp, and of course it sounds cool. I am still waiting to see if it improved my gas mileage at all. It was fairly easy to install, but the only problem that i have with it, is that there is no way to secure the box itself down to the vehicle. It probably doesn't pose a problem, but I would feel alot better if you could secure it down."

Great for Product!!

Posted on 08/21/2007 by Michael D. (West Islip,NY)

"I have only had the intake installed for about a week now(to early to see gas milage advantages) and can notice the boost improvement . The installation took all of 25 minutes and the sound that comes out of it at higher RPMs makes it really roar. Awesome product no questions asked."

Increase of Power, Loss of gas mileage

Posted on 08/20/2007 by Adam A. - 2001 Chevy Truck S10 (Laramie,WY)

"I installed this on my Chevy S-10 V-6 Vortec, fairly easy to install, about an hour. When driving there is a noticable increase of power, especially on the higher end. However after two weeks there's been about a 3 mpg loss in fuel economy."

Volant Air Intake '05 Ford F150 FX4

Posted on 08/15/2007 by Mark M. (Akron,OH)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"I purchased my Volant air intake for my F150 to give it a little extra power and to help the engine run cooler while I haul my trailer, boat, etc. Only have had it installed for a short time, but I have noticed a slight increase in throttle response. After reading some reviews, I thought it might be difficult to install, but it wasn't that difficult. The installation instructions do seem to be a bit vague in some areas, but not too bad. The most difficult part of the installation was being able to reach some areas under the hood because of the height of the truck. I haven't even had it intalled long enough to notice a difference in gas mileage. If you are willing to spend some money for some extra performance, I would recommmend this equipment for your vehicle."

Volant Intake perfect start

Posted on 08/15/2007 by Stan K. (Friendswood,TX)

"The Volant CAI is part of a bolt on intake, electronic and exhaust performance package that I have incorporated on my truck. The Volant was an easy install and probably the most cost efficient. I read the reviews on FordF150.net and decided on this CAI. They made one recommendation about moving the wiring harness under the box and they were right on target. Sound and low end torque are a noticable improvement. Within a week 2 friends got off the fence and ordered the same setup, someone needs to lead the pack."
