Description

Increase performance up to 18 horsepower, add 40 lbs of torque and even save gas mileage with the Volant Cold Air Intake System! The rocket scientists at Volant have truly outdone themselves with this one.

The Hi-Flow Velocity Air Box breathes in oodles of performance-enhancing air via the massive air duct. Many Volant Cold Air Intakes also include an enclosed air box that takes power and efficiency higher. Some drivers even report an increase in gas mileage by 1 to 2 miles per gallon. What's more, it can take less than an hour using standard household tools to replace the old, suffocating factory air box.

Best yet, Volant gives most vehicles a performance filter choice: the original high-performance cotton-gauze filter with cleaning intervals of 35,000-50,000 miles, or the all-new oil-free PowerCore air filter, requiring maintenance after a whopping 100,000 miles.

"after reading many reviews about the Volant system, and hearing that the directions were a little bit clouded. I decided to try it for myself. the cost was resonable compared to other sytems...it arrived on time with no problem, and was happy with the ordering system, and the gentleman that took my order....after spreading out all the parts, and tearing my old sysytem off, I found that the Volant was relativly easy to install. all the holes and hardware aligned right up . and after a little trouble getting the air sensor and gaskets to go together properly , it went like a breeze......like others have said . the directions need a little work...Volant ought to take a little time and make the direction a little more comprehendable ...other then that the systen works real , together with a set of Flow_masters, the sound is great.I found the best power boost to be around 35 to 45 mph. you kick and you can tell the difference..( this is on a 5.3 Chevy Avalanch)........all in all two thumbs up on the Volant cold air induction system"

Volant CAI 2002 Trans Am

Posted on 08/12/2007 by Annette T. - 2002 Pontiac Trans Am (La Puente,CA)

"The installation guide for this product was poor and only showed a schematic. The inlet tube didn't fit the MAF sensor and had to be dremmeled to make the inlet bigger- this took some time. The installation should have taken about 45 min.- 1 hr. but took more like 3 hrs. The intake did add at least 12-15 hp. Works great and looks good."

Top of the line

Posted on 08/09/2007 by Albert M. (Santa Ana,CA)

"The Volant with the scoop is one of the most expensive products of this type the You can buy for Your vehicle. That being said, I would recommend this to all who wants an instant performance increase. Using only My "butt-dyno" I noticed a big difference. My '04 Silverado with the 5.3 is very happy taking BIG gulps of cold air and so am I. Volants customer service leaves some to be desired but the product is the best there is. Autoanything on the other hand has great service and very fast order processing."

Volant Cold Air Intake

Posted on 08/08/2007 by Allen K. (Stockton,CA)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"This was the first time I installed anything under the hood of a vehicle and it went off without a hitch. I used some instructions that I found online that also contained pictures and it made it real easy to locate the different parts and how to install them and in what order. I figure if I can install it easily, just about anyone can. Now, onto the performance... I do feel some extra power at the high end and it gives my truck a little more of a growl. It was loud to begin with, but this thing gave it a different, lower tone. At highway speeds, the engine is louder than before and can get annoying, but didn't really bother me much since I have my stereo on loud anyway. Fuel mileage did seem to increase approximately 1 MPG. Overall, this was definitely the best bang for the buck upgrade that I've done to the truck... better MPG, more power, better tone..."

Excellent Product

Posted on 07/30/2007 by Eric G. (Los Angeles,CA)

"I have had K&N intakes in the past, but have not really felt a power difference after the install. The Volant CAI gave me a noticable increase of hourse power. I have a 2004 Cadillac CTS-V (400hp stock) and I was sceptical at first beacause adding 18hp did not seem like much. However, not only did I get an increase in HP but my fuel mileage has also increased."

More power - More noise

Posted on 07/26/2007 by Bryan S. (Colorado Springs,CO)

"I installed the cold air intake on my 06 Tundra 4.7L V8. Difficult to install: The install took about 1 1/2 hours, the instructions were very hard to follow, but I eventually figured it out on my own. Increased power: I have noticed that my truck down shifts less often going up hills. The increased airflow seems to have increased the torque. Increased noise: There is a significant increase in noise under the hood, however, it is less noticeable under light acceleration - the heavier your foot the louder the noise. I find myself trying to see if I can make less noise during acceleration (which may be leading to improved fuel consumption). Fuel consumption: I have noticed about a 1 mpg increase in fuel consumption around town (only two tanks so far). I have not tested it on a long trip yet. Verdict: I bought it for the improved fuel consumption, the verdict is still out as to whether I made the right choice."

Posted on 07/25/2007 by Christian R. - 2004 Chevy Silverado (Murrieta,CA)

"This product is far from free but definately worth the money. Not only is the throttle more responsive, acceleration can be felt at the seat of your pants.Althought i`m feeling the power,my fuel consumption has remained as before Volant was installed. On a normal drive ( not mashing the gas pedal ) fuel savings was definately noticed. Excellent product...."

"1 hour and installed with a perfect fit. Vehicle feels and is quicker. Accelerating and passing on the highway is much better than stock intake. At around 2000rpm you hear a noticeable growl. Installed a Flow maser 40 series muffler at the same time = new truck, Awesome F-150!"

Mustang 2001

Posted on 07/10/2007 by Lee L. (Spring,TX)

"SWEEEET.... This addition gave me extra performace when the carberator is at full throttle. Actually I felt the additional boost immediately. I have Flowmaster dual full exhaust which compliments the Volant Cold Air Intake. I installed this myself which took about 45 minutes. It's a perfect fit to the engine design. I rate this product higher than the K&N intake sytems due to the "air box" concept which allows outside air into the engine without any wiorries of the filter being contaminated by any water. and"

"As far as intake systems go, Volant is simply the best. The install instructions were a bit more tricky than expected. I can definitely tell a difference in acceleration when I put the pedal on the floor, and there is a nice growl from the engine along with it."

'03 Dodge Dakota 4.7 Kit 16947

Posted on 07/07/2007 by Paul Z. (Depew,NY)

"Kit 16947 is only listed for the '04 Dakota 4.7, it does fit the '03 Dakotas as well. the kit has provision for the breather and the air temp. sensor that many other intakes did not have. The sealed box design was a nice feature. The instructions were more of a blue print and parts list then instructions. I have only had it in the truck for a week but have noticed that at highway speeds my rpm is lower and I don't have to press down on the gas as much. I have not had any of the wine that some people say they have with other kits. under load it deepened the sound of the exhaust. Also is pepier from a stand still. I hope the gas mileage will get better with the kit in place. I have not been able to get a true check of gas mileage yet. Down falls are the instructions and lack of complete applications guide for the kit. Meaning it will fit '03-'04 Dakotas and Durangos with the 4.7 not just '04 Dakota. The cover plate alignment was a bit off. Two screws were a little tight to get in place."

2007 Nissan Titan

Posted on 06/25/2007 by Jon I. (Campbell,CA)

"I put this system on my Titan and it was a very snug fit. It appears to have better pick-up and is definatly more noisy when you step on the throttle. (sounds pretty cool)The fit is so snug that I wasn't able to put in a throttle body spacer which I ended up returning and was dissapointed that I couldn't use both for better performance and possibly better fuel economy. There is probably a way to cut the plastic tubing but I didn't want to risk it."
