Description

Increase performance up to 18 horsepower, add 40 lbs of torque and even save gas mileage with the Volant Cold Air Intake System! The rocket scientists at Volant have truly outdone themselves with this one.

The Hi-Flow Velocity Air Box breathes in oodles of performance-enhancing air via the massive air duct. Many Volant Cold Air Intakes also include an enclosed air box that takes power and efficiency higher. Some drivers even report an increase in gas mileage by 1 to 2 miles per gallon. What's more, it can take less than an hour using standard household tools to replace the old, suffocating factory air box.

Best yet, Volant gives most vehicles a performance filter choice: the original high-performance cotton-gauze filter with cleaning intervals of 35,000-50,000 miles, or the all-new oil-free PowerCore air filter, requiring maintenance after a whopping 100,000 miles.

"I couldn't ask for more. I installed this on my 5.3L Silverado. After my performance exhaust, I went from about 350 miles to the tank to about 400. After the volant, I reset the computer and drove it hard in an attempt to break it in. So after flooring it almost every time i drove ( =D !! ) I still got a tiny bit more gas mileage. I can't wait to see what it's like under normal driving. AND the performance is awesome! I can burn rubber in the low-end AND the high-end now. I was amazed when I heard those tires chirp twice. The instructions are vague, but my girlfriend and I were able to install it in 2 or 3 hours. In short: better throttle response, gas mileage and performance."

"This things sounds and looks great on my Xterra. I would say its a little on the pricy side for what you get, but I think this is the best CAI out there. It has a fully enclosed box, so no hot air from the engine compartment gets in. It looks really good, and for the most part is well made. The air filter is huge and looks nice sitting in the box. Now to the negatives. The directions leave something to be desired. If you dont know what your doing, you will get lost and not be able to get it installed correctly. They should be more detailed. Also the part were my air temp sensor plugs into the box, is not very secure and looks like it could fall out if you go over a big bump, leaving me to add a rubber o-ring on the inside to secure it better. Overall great item, matched with a new muffler and your good to go!"

"The volant cold air intake is one of the best things that I have put on my 2006 300c. I noticed a big improvement in performance and a 2 mile per gallon milage increase. The exhaust has a very nice tone now and it did not make the exhaust louder. Over all a very good product. I have recomened it to my friends."

"The package came with no instructions (but was very easy to install). We did call customer support to see if there were any instructions and I am still waiting on a call back two weeks. It took about 45 minutes to install, but I spent about 30 minutes tyring to get the air sensor out of the old hose. I finally just the tube. It appears to have better pickup in the upper RPM's when I really need it on the highway. Gas milage is about 1 MPG."

"The CAI arrived very quick and well-packaged. The instructions were easy to follow and were designed just for my vehicle. The pictures in the instructions could have been a little bit clearer to see though. Installation took me less than 30 minutes. The only difficult part was making sure that I put my sensor back in the correct way. My fuel mileage has increased by 3mpg! My engine purrs just a little bit louder now but not too loud."

"I purchased my Volant intake after researching all the available models for my 2006 4Runner v8. Volant was the obvious best choice for appearance and performance gains. I installed it after the installation of the Borla cat-back dual exhaust kit and it made a huge difference in sound and power verses with just the exhaust."

"Removed the stock air intake (nightmare) system to install the Volant which draws air in from both the ram air port by the grill but also through the cover strategically positioned by the hood where cold air rushes in. What a difference in throttle response and passing power. I can "zip" around a car on the highway like a sportscar with my dually and so far the only two upgrades done are the 4" straight through exhaust and the volant air intake. I'd buy this air intake again in a heartbeat. Too bad it's not worth it on my wife's leased minivan or I'd "soup" that thing up also..."

2007 Tundra 5.7l Volant CAI - Satisfied Except for Sound

"1st, Volant has remedied all/most of the issues I've read about especially relating to fit. They now provide a spacer to raise the plastic decorative engine cover to provide adequate room for the hose. The fit to the fender was tight, although mine didn’t seem to cover the entire opening – not that it needs to. The install took less than an hour, even with snoopy neighbors. Instructions still lacking; narrative good, pix poor. I live @ 6,800 ft and pull a trailer frequently @ over 10k'. I bought my CAI to try and breathe better. Instant HP & throttle response gratification. I noticed +2 mpg improvement on one hi-way tank. The in-town sound is great, a nice growl when I accelerate and a soft rumble when cruising. However, when I towed my trailer the sound was almost too much; bordering on obnoxious & certainly irritating. The truck actually sounded sick. I'll explore fixes or possibly return it due to this as I tow a lot. Other than the over-the-top sound when towing I’m pleased with the look, fit, sound & performance."
