"The instructions are bad. They don't tell you about disconnecting the battery and my truck has 3 hoses not 4 like they showed. K & N site was very helpfull with this. Also the big intake opening on the box which you are to put a strip of rubber onto so it will seal against the inside fender wall would not fit on the lip of this opening. It was WAY to thick for the rubber to side onto. I had to use a dremmel tool and grind away alot of this plastic to make it thin enough. No change at all in MPG. Does sound very nice. Overall I'm happy."

"With the current price of gasoline being what it is, I am working to improve the lackluster MPG of a 4x4 supercrew. Overall the kit was easy to install and of exceptional quality. I had one issue with clearance between the powersteering reservoir and the new air box. I had to "adjust" the reservoir mounting. First trip 600 miles 16.75 mpg running 75 - 80 mph. That is up almost 1.5 mpg with no change in driving (bad) habits. Total of 1921 miles since kit installation average combined mpg of 16.81 city and highway.

"Installed the unit in my 2005 Cadillac CTS. Before install was getting 23.5MPG after 3 tank fulls getting 24.3 an increase of .8 not as good as past K&N's. Is loud when taking off louder then expected. CTS was fast at take off have not felt any increase. Corresponded with tech at Volant they said unplug battery to reset computer. Did that nothing changed. Stick with K&N."

"Installation was easy on my 2008 GMC truck. It took about 45 mins and went very well.
I'm told it takes about 5 hrs for the engine ECU to learn the mapping of more air. So at first I really could not feel a change.
Then the other day I needed to pass someone. I hit the gas and I could feel the change then.
It's not a lot, but it's there. I feel it's more of a cool looking factor than anything else, and I like the fact that the Power Core is a dry filter. No Oiling...I like that.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars."

"hey guys stuck this on my07'5.7 tundra and love it.the truck was very impressive performance wise before, but if its even believable it runs even better, throttle response was the first thing I noticed but you can immediately feel the ease of which your engine seems to be running. Not sure about any change in gas mileage seems to be a little better but it was good before but can definitely feel the power difference.last but not least THE SOUND....highly reccomend this product to anyone"

"I was impressed with the quality of the materials. The airtube itself looks like a factory item, and blends in well with the rest of the engined compartment. I really like the formed plastic airtube material. The airbox also is a well made item, it fits better than the other brand I had tried, and is actually an airbox, and not a piece of bent sheet metal. The lid is also quality. I liked the large cone filter, it seemed more than adequate for the application. The only thing I did not like was the complete lack of instructions. However, there was a detailed material list, and to be honest, if you could not put this CAI on without using instructions, you really had no business ordering one, it was much simpler to install than the last brand I tried.

"Installation was not quite as straight forward as K & N cold air intakes I put in my F250 and Explorer, however, not terrible. I did have to trim the box as I could not get it to fit in the space allowed with the hose/tube in place to the throttle body. I shaved off approx 1/2 inch and it fit perfect. I took the vehicle on a 560 mile trip within days of installing the intake and it had a noticable power/performance increase over the stock system."

"Price: Couldn't beat the price from Autoanything
Shipping: Not bad the product was received within the stated time.
Installation: Less than desirable as some of the holes did not line up identically and the fit wasn't snug enough for my preference. The instruction sheet needs improvement.
Performance: GREAT sound when I get on the throttle. It sounds like it is trying to suck up the pavement. The jury is still out on gas mileage as I haven't done the numbers.
Overall: Good product."

"First, I read about the Gap on the finder well of the 07 tundra. Install the Volant CAI according to exact sequence and the install was 15 minutes with no Gap in finde well. Install out of sequence and it could take all day.
After installation, fired engine. Went out for a test drive. I steped on the gas, with stock exhaust, better throttle response. Pulls harder at higher RPM. Up to quarter inch of throttle, truck sounds stock, past that your 5.7 sounds like a completely different truck. Sound change from norml to a mean BEAST!. Thats the way the truck should accelerate and sound while doing it. Great Great Product. Thanks Volant.

"awesome throaty sound on acceleration and around 2k rpm's, "avg mpg display" on dash shows improvement of 1 mpg in city so far (still on first tank since install.) easily installed in 30min even with sketchy instructions. going on a trip this weekend, will see if hwy mpg gets any better. had an airaid intake before, volant sounds, looks, and preforms better. definately noticed increase in throttle response. hardest part is keeping your foot off the gas... find myself wanting to show off the sound and preformance. awesome product!"

"bought a volant intake and put on 5 inch straight thru exhaust. just got back from a 500+ mile trip and got 18 mpg. i usually get 10 - 12 mpg!! low end torque and power are unbelieveable..i put it on my 2004 f350 duallie diesel. it is like having the muscle car i dreamed of, but could afford when i was younger. i would reccomend the volant air intake to anyone. thanks, autoanything"

Volant for 2002 7.3L Powerstroke F350
Posted on 01/22/2008 by James M. - 2002 Ford F350 (Belmont,OH)

"My son and I installed a Volant cold air intake (basic model) on our 2002 F350 7.3L about two weeks ago. The installation was a breeze even though the so-called instructions were a joke (nothing but a parts list and a bad diagram). The fit is very good. We noticed a significant improvement in throttle response. Not enough time in yet to gauge mileage changes. So far we had one check engine light warning on a VERY cold morning at highway speeds, but it cleared itself and I suspect the adaptive learning mode had just not caught up wiht the apparently confused Mass Airflow Sensor (frigid morning = more concentrated oxygen). No problems since then. The box does drone a bit at highway speeds but its not bad. Exhales audibly when you let off the throttle, but again not an offensive sound. Overall quite pleased."

"Installation of the air intake with cold air scoop took about one hour. No noticable increase in power. After about 500 miles of driving watching my trip computer-interstate driving ranged from 21.2 to 24.8 mpg[previous range was 20.2 to 22.5]at a steady 75mph. City driving-16.1mpg-no change."
