Description

Increase performance up to 18 horsepower, add 40 lbs of torque and even save gas mileage with the Volant Cold Air Intake System! The rocket scientists at Volant have truly outdone themselves with this one.

The Hi-Flow Velocity Air Box breathes in oodles of performance-enhancing air via the massive air duct. Many Volant Cold Air Intakes also include an enclosed air box that takes power and efficiency higher. Some drivers even report an increase in gas mileage by 1 to 2 miles per gallon. What's more, it can take less than an hour using standard household tools to replace the old, suffocating factory air box.

Best yet, Volant gives most vehicles a performance filter choice: the original high-performance cotton-gauze filter with cleaning intervals of 35,000-50,000 miles, or the all-new oil-free PowerCore air filter, requiring maintenance after a whopping 100,000 miles.

"EVERY THING FIT FINE. HAD TO PUSH AIRBOX CLOSE TO FENDER FOR PROPER FIT. SOME WHAT NOISY AT FULL THROTLE, BUT NOT OBJECTIONABLE. I THOUGHT PRICE WAS A LITTLE HIGH FOR WHAT YOU GOT, SINCE EVERYTHING WAS PLASTIC. TRUCK SEEMED TO HAVE MORE POWER AT HIGH SPEEDS, 60 AND ABOVE. BUT WITHOUT A CHASSI DYNO ILL NEVER KNOW. HAVENT CKD MILAGE YET. G W GABRIEL RETIRED AUTOMOTIVE MACHINIST."

"Average looks, easy install, "Great noise" is a product of thin material, no mileage improvements and no benefit over stock air filter with a K & N installed. Save your money for an aftermarket filter and a trough of margaritas!"

"It took me a couple of hours to install the cold air intake even tho there were no instructions, just a diagram. Had to take the OEM battery box off, and the intake fit very tight. The really good part is the intake pulls air from the front and thru the fender. I also ordered the "sock" to keep bugs and water out. Actually was an easy install and works great - looks great."

"I installed the volant cold air intake along with a airaid poweraid throttle body spacer about three months ago. I have not seen any increase in mpgs (possible loss) as I was hoping I would. I have noticed an increase in power and the system sounds good, but if you are trying to get better mpgs... buy a 4 cylinder truck or car."

"The kit is well made and fit perfectly. It looks like it could have come with the truck. With this kit I picked up about 1 MPG and with the Magnaflow cat back I picked up about 1-2 MPG. Any increase in intake noise is not noticeable with the exhaust. The truck now run in 4 cyl mode sooner and longer. IMO a good package for the 6.0 chevy motor."

"I recently purchased an 08 titan and definitely wanted to make some adjustments. The Volant CAI was a fairly easy installation and the sound is exactly what I expected. Roars when you get on the gas, but quiet when you are cruising. I also had Volant on my old Nissan Frontier and wasn't dissappointed with it either. There was also an increase of about 10-15% in mpg. Don't forget the recharge kit for the filter."

"Really like the sound and easy installation. I feel the scoop shgould be included for the price though.I also have some whistling noise.Did not have it with the stock intake.Might be due to the throttle body spacer.Have'nt checked it for MPG effiency yet. I'll have to break down and Buy the scoop to see if it eliminates the whistling."

"Just installed a couple days ago. Looks awesome and sounds great. Haven't noticed any big performance increases or change in gas mileage, but it may be still too early to tell until the computer catches up with the change. Price is a little higher than most others but the quality seems really good."

"The concept is valid - more air in to the engine equals greater output, and this system makes use of that concept. I have the extra "cold air scoop" which runs next to the radiator and pulls in air from the grill. But do not be fooled about the advertised HP gains, they are NEVER what the manufactures advertise. I know because my father has his own shop with a dyno. My brothers and I are always using the thing to test add on's and improvements. NO AIR INTAKE adds the HP the manufacture claims (most notably K+N) but I can tell you it does add a very small amount of HP. Any addition is good for the engine, as the engine works less to make the same speed, and therefore you save gas. On a stock engine expect a few extra HP - my highly modified engine gained 3 HP..."

"After reading reviews, I went with the Volant for the closed box design and the addition of the Cold Air system. The installation directions were not detailed but provided a guide. Installation was less than an hour due to some confusion with a hose that had no home. After some investigation, it was found that this hose (differential release hose) just needed to be tied down to someplace safe (I tied it to my AC lines). Otherwise, the Volant sounds great and have seen a 2 MPG improvement (mostly city driving) and would hope to see more on long hwy trips. As far as power increases, I have noticed a slight increase in acceleration but have no true data to back this claim. Pricing at Autoanything.com was the best that I could find as well."

"Seemingly well made product, except for wrong size throttle body gasket. Unit has clear instructions and the install quick and easy. I bought this unit instead of buying ridiculously expensive OE replacement. Truck seems to be a bit more responsive to throttle, but the noise is intolerable. I tow, so I'm into the throttle a lot and the noise in the cab is over the top. There's some sound dampening material in my futurre."

"I installed the Volant Cold Air Intake on my 2007 Tundra Crewmax 5.7 a week ago. The install was easy but the actual fit of the intake wasn't the best. The intake just would not fit properly to have a good seal against fender cut out (Sucking hot air from engine bay). I was really after gaining extra miles per gallon since my truck has been lifted 3” with 20” wheels & 33” Toyo Mud Tires my Hwy mpg dropped from the 19mpg-13mpg. The larger tires etc throws off the factory mpg figs but I figured that I am averaging about 1.5-2 additional mpg. At first start up the sound was noticeable immediately, when cruising the noise is not too noticeable but under heavy acceleration it screams! My main concern it the loss of low to mid-range torque. When accelerating the initial throttle response is a little sharper but from around 2000-3500 Rpm engine seems to bog a little. Once over 3500-4000Rpm it seems to run a little stronger. Overall I am not sure if product was worth the money I guess I was expecting more for all the hype!. Hope this helps!"

"I purchased this manufacturer due to a friend running it in his SS Chevy pick up. He was happy with his application so I decided to give it a try. Sadly for me, my experience wasn't the same. After installing this intake (about 45 minutes with no major hassles and a good overall fit) my SES light came on. After two resets the light comes back on after about 15 minutes after the engine on. The SES code are for both the O2 sensors running full rich. (this is/was the only modification to the trucks power-train) Called Volant and was surprised to be told to send the unit back if the SES light continued. So it's going back. At the time of this review AutoAnything was working on a RMA so I could return the unit. AutoAnyhting has been wonderful through the process and also seemed surprised that Volant's answer was pretty much "yeah we know it doesn't work so just send it back" One of AA's reps confirmed with a tech at Volant that this was the proper course of action. At the end of the day I'm frustrated with how it all turned out, but Kudos to AA and Volant for not making me keep a faulty product. Now lets hope I get that RMA."
