Description

Increase performance up to 18 horsepower, add 40 lbs of torque and even save gas mileage with the Volant Cold Air Intake System! The rocket scientists at Volant have truly outdone themselves with this one.

The Hi-Flow Velocity Air Box breathes in oodles of performance-enhancing air via the massive air duct. Many Volant Cold Air Intakes also include an enclosed air box that takes power and efficiency higher. Some drivers even report an increase in gas mileage by 1 to 2 miles per gallon. What's more, it can take less than an hour using standard household tools to replace the old, suffocating factory air box.

Best yet, Volant gives most vehicles a performance filter choice: the original high-performance cotton-gauze filter with cleaning intervals of 35,000-50,000 miles, or the all-new oil-free PowerCore air filter, requiring maintenance after a whopping 100,000 miles.

Posted on 03/10/2007 by Kely A. - 2002 Ford Explorer (Sarasota,FL)

"I own a 2002 ford explorer, and this intake so far is great. At first it didn't look like it would fit but once you take out the old parts and replace them with this intake it fits snug. There is certainly low growl the engine makes now which is nice. But also my gas mileage went up to an extra 2 miles every gallon. When I first pulled out of the driveway i gave it a little gas an it jumped, so it is obvious this makes a difference in acceleration. If you own an explorer I would recomend this."

volant intake works

Posted on 03/06/2007 by Efren C. - 2003 Chevy Avalanche (Fontana,CA)

"Auto everything was easy to shop with. Shipping took longer than expected, considering they're a So. Cal based company and I'm in So. Cal. Volant product is great! Noticed an immediate increase in throttle response and power. Nice little growl under the hood, but not too much to drown the cab of my 03 Avalanche. I bought a K&N 77 Series intake for my wife's 04 Suburban and should have spent the extra money to put the Volant in! Big difference! If you're looking for a quick increase in power...go for the Volant intake. Have not noticed any change in MPG, which is one of the main reasons I purchased the intake. Great product though, thoroughly satisfied!"

Volant - superior product works as advertised

Posted on 03/06/2007 by Jerry V. - 2005 Ford F150 (Largo,FL)

"The added HP is noticeable, no need to convince yourself that the purchase was worth it. I have installed mods before and had to convince myself there was a difference, not so with the Volant cold air intake. Definitely more power, 1-2 mpg increase even though I notice myself getting on it more. Quality of the product is on par with an OEM installation."

Perplexed!!

Posted on 03/05/2007 by Jimmy F. - 2006 Ford Expedition (Aransas Pass,TX)

"This was my first install and I had problems from the "get go". After removing the old system, I discovered I needed a torx screw driver to remove the air sensor. There was no mention of this in the directions. Next, the air sensor would not fit in the port as the port was not molded correctly. I had to rasp out the plastic in two corners to get it to fit. The case was difficult to align with the fender mount, the rubber gasket for the intake was cut to long and the 18" hose for the engine intake was missing from the kit. However, I made do and the Valant system is installed and has increased my mileage by about 3 miles per gal. Performance is much better especially when pulling my 27ft. trailler. Thanks!!"

'06 Crew Cab Chevy - Excellent!

Posted on 03/03/2007 by Brian W. - 2006 Chevy Silverado (Mission Viejo,CA)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"Bought the CAI and the scoop at the same time. Installation was easy, the only problem was the scoop. But if you pop out the wheel well it's a snap from there. Noticed HP gain instantly but the gas mileage was minor. The scoop helps on the freeway mileage, very smooth. Overall, very impressed. Costs a little more, but if you want the best, this is it. Also, the scoop does seem to pull up a little mist in heavy rain conditions but didn't notice a problem at all - never made it through the filter I guess, just saw dried droplets in the filter box after. However, I then bought the prefilter wrap and that will ensure no water getting past the filter."

"easy install, although a gasket was missing. I made a custom gasket with little effort. I also installed a throttle body spacer at the same time. I had to trim the air intake manifold about a 1/2" for good fit. result was quicker rev, more responsive. 1hr 15min for all"

Very Nice

Posted on 02/27/2007 by Lance K. - 1987 Dodge Ram (Arcadia,WI)

"The Volant Cols Air Intake was Very Easy To install. Ansd sounds great. It kinda sounds like a 4 barrel kicking in and increased my low end power alot. the only thing that was bad was it didnt fit tight all the ways around the carb it was tight on 1 end but i could see a gap on ther other side so i had to lift up on one side to make it fit well"

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"The Volant CAI was the best purchase I've made for my truck since buying the truck. I noticed more horsepower instantly, and as for gas,, a 2+ miles per gallon increase, (That's a big deal to me). But most of all, I have NEVER installed anything under the hood of a vehicle before other than a battery, and from box to truck in under 45 minutes. (WOW, that too is a big deal to me.) Thanks Autoanything for the best price and super fast shipping."

2007 Chevy Tahoe

Posted on 02/27/2007 by Thomas G. (Reno,NV)

"Pluses: Unlocked the horsepower that upgrading to a dual Magna Flow exhaust provided. I have seen a increase in mpg according to the onboard 'computer'. Minuses: Where is the CARB sticker that was supposed to come with it? I haven't heard back from AutoAnything about it and I am worried about my next SMOG test. The breather hose that came with it was too short and I had to 'make do' until I could buy a replacement (which is still substandard). Not very happy with the purchase overall because I am more worried than pleased."

"This is a great intake. Could feel the power increase after installing it. Would have liked to have been able to get an intake with the airbox to seal it from the engine compartment and ensure cold air is flowing into the engine. This was however not available for my vehicle. Overall it was a great purchase."

"This is my 3rd Volant system,(1999 gmc 1500 and 2003 gmc 1500hd 6.0) and this one disappoints. The performance is better but the molded cover fits poorly, not lining up and only 2 of the 3 retaining bolts will work. Would not recommend for this application."

Dodge Ram Growls

Posted on 02/20/2007 by Jeff B. - 2004 Dodge Ram (Centreville,VA)

"Not hard to install. Took about 30 mins. Not noticing gas mileage improvement yet, but my foot keeps smashing the gas to hear the roar that the intake produces. Cool! Throttle seems more responsive. Not sure there is much difference in airflow between the Volant ant the factory. Has the same curves. Might have recieved same results with just a K&N filter and a slight mod to the factory filter box. Not sure there is more air flow. AutoAnything rocks! No shipment problems. Will use them everytime."

Volant is cool but harder than it should be

Posted on 02/20/2007 by Donald H. (San Antonio,TX)

"The Volant Cold Air System looks good, and performs well. However, the instructions are not good enough even for the experienced installer. The Cold Air box that I received had no mounting holes in the bottom. So I had to punch around a bit to figure out where to drill the two holes to mount the box. There really isn't a way to figure this out on your own. They should pre-drill them. Other than the missing holes, and poor instructions, this is a good system."

Volant CAI and Ram Air Scoop

Posted on 02/15/2007 by Taylor S. - 2004 Ford F150 (Port Allen,LA)

"Great gains in hp, but not what I expected in gas consumption. Intake kit itself was easy to install, ~1 hour, but ram air scoop took considerably longer to install, as it is so difficult to get to the mounting possition. I would absolutely recommend the scoop, however if you are interested in the CAI kit to unlock its full potential."
