"The kit is relatively easy to install, but you could easily miss the bolt that holds the airbox to the chassis. Also, the airbox is a tight fit, with some intermittent chassis contact at idle. Did notice some improvement in the mid-range, at highway speed. Not much improvement in MPG but that's because of my left foot. And the sound is fantastic!"

"Volant CAI was EASY(25min) to install on my F-150. Looks good, and gave my truck a little more juice, and a bit better gas mileage. I also recommend this CAI, cause you can add the the RAM AIR tube (sold seperate)."

"I just recently installed the Volant in my '05 Sierra & pleased with the results. I have a 40-series Flowmaster to pair with the intake. Both sound throaty & kick out some off the line power! Volant needs to put out some better installation instructions though."

"I just installed a Volant cold air intake system on my 2006 King Ranch. WoW! I couldn't believe the difference over stock air breather! Idle is smooth and quiet. Throaty at mid-range. Noticable increase in pickup and sounds awesome! Easy installation took about 30 minutes. Great design, fits like factory installation. Couldn,t be happier! I'll be checking for improved gas milage in next few weeks."

"I believe that Volant has a good product and I did indeed notice an improvement in my trucks trottle response as well as mpg gain (altought I still need to hold that thought because I can't help but get on the gas pedal heavy from time to time just for the hell of it). I do however wish that the filter housing were mounted more securely and that the seal from the housing to the duct were better designed. Also whats with the opening in front of the housing? Should that be capped off or open? I did not receive any installation instructions (altough its pretty basic, it sure would be a nice touch). Thanks, Oscar"

"The installation was a snap! I think it took 15 to 20 minutes to install including the time to down a cold beer. I can't say for sure but I think I can notice an increase in power and the engine sounds better. One noticable difference is that the engine runs cooler. I am very happy with the results!"

2005 F150 5.4L Installation

"So far I am satisfied with my Volant Cold Air Intake System. The only recommendation that I would make to the manufacture is, go back and review your installation instructions for the 5.4L F150. First, I was missing some hardware when I received my system. I ran to my local hardware store and picked up the missing pieces. They need to add to the tools needed list, a T20 Torx Key. Before I could remove my old air filter box, I had to remove a cable clip that was attached to the air filter box housing which was not identified in the instructions. I also had to trim the opening for the mass flow sensor in order for it to fit properly. The fit is not perfect either. I had to struggle with connecting the 3 1/2" sleeve, it didn't line up properly with the throttle body. And finally, the air intake hole in the box doesn't line up right with the hole in the fender. Overall, it looks great, sounds great and I could tell a difference in acceleration. My truck doesn't have an initial high idle when I first start it and it seems to shift smoother. It is still to early to tell, but so far I have seen an increase in gas mileage of 1 mile/gallon."

"Installaiton was simple, installing the scoop took more time since my truck came with no tow hooks. I went to a local hardware store & bought a 1/2" carriage bolt with a square nut to ease tightening through a hole on frame rail adjacent to mounting area. Basicallly I used one bolt instead of two (could not reach the other one)without removing body parts, but a 1/2" bolt plus clamps holding hose in place appears to be suffucient support. I re-checked installation twice since installation & seems fine. What I did notice though is that the inner part of the left front tire hits scoop on a full right turn. I re-adjusted scoop by pushing it up further into hose that leads to the air box. Looks like if you install a larger tire than stock (285/70R17--stock alloy wheel)this can happen. Scoop already rests on body mount bushing bracket & frame rail so the only way to re-adjust is up. I previuosly installed a front leveling kit which raised front end 2-1/4 inches. These trucks come with a lot of front end dive. The sound intake makes, is annoying after hearing it several times on same trip. I could probably put up with it if mileage had increased. I don't understand why my mileage dropped from 15 to now 12 ???. I even tried babying throttle after a tank fill up........but noticed no increase. In theory, it makes sense to leave it on since you do get a lot more fresh air into intake so I think I will leave on for now. I might just re-install my stock intake system just to re-check mileage. I did install a cat back flowmaster with a 3" pipe to the rear prior to cold air intake installation. This should not affect cold air performance (?) in terms of more mileage since engine in theory, is breathing a lot easier. Question: Could lower exhaust backpressure affect performance and or mileage on this 5.4 liter electronic engine ?. I will add that, it would look so much better with better quality hose clamps than what came with it........in my opinion, radiator hose clamps which came with it look cheap"

"The biggest difference I have seen has been in throttle response in my 1500HD with 6.0L. Before the cold air intake it was sluggish and I really had to step on it to get going. Not anymore!! Very happy with the performance and look of the Volant!!"

"I have a 2005 Navigator w/ Magnaflow catback. I was told the intake would definitely open up the breathing, add some hp, and the catback would have more of a growl than it already does. Didn't notice much at idle but when you step on the gas - WATCH OUT!! I'm having a hard time keeping my foot out of the pedal after every stop. It sounds like a race car. Can't keep doing that at $3+ for gas. Awesome sound, definite increase in acceleration, easy install. Highly recommend!"

Volant on 2000 4.7L Durango

"AutoAnything did awesome on the shipping and delivery. The install of the CAI was a little difficult. I am disappointed with the size of the pipe clamps that were included. They pretty close to the size needed after everything was tightened down which made it VERY difficult to get the air cleaner and the shroud over the pipe on initial installation. I followed the directions provided and found that I had to remove everything so that I could have some leverage to hard press the air cleaner and shroud on the intake tube, then shimmy things around to complete the install. I initally bought the CAI in conjunction with the Superchips mod to help with mileage. The Superchips did exactly what it offered with increasing fuel mileage approximately 1-2Mpg in the 87 Octane mode. Since I put the volant CAI on the engine, my wife likes the sound during hard acceleration and I believe that I lost the mileage improvements I was going for, however, on the last tank of gas I still get 1mpg improvement with both components compared to stock. Thank you AutoAnything for your prompt and professional service."

"2004 F-150 4X4 5.7 3V As for low end power, no change, mid range great, top end about the same.It is not as noisy as a KN system, but you hear it at 70mph under load, I like the design due to it protects the filter from under hood dirt,vs KN.the MAF sensor cut out was not aligned correctly to install the sensor to bolt up,a little filling cured the problem.I tested it on a diag. tester at work and the IAT ,dropped a couple of degrees, which gives a colder intake charge.AS for MPG it started at .5 to 1.2 increase based on 14.5>15.8 adv.I'll take any improvements .Compared to others out there, I'm satisfied because it not as loud under normal driving conditions, and I'll consider it for my next vehicle."
