Description

Increase performance up to 18 horsepower, add 40 lbs of torque and even save gas mileage with the Volant Cold Air Intake System! The rocket scientists at Volant have truly outdone themselves with this one.

The Hi-Flow Velocity Air Box breathes in oodles of performance-enhancing air via the massive air duct. Many Volant Cold Air Intakes also include an enclosed air box that takes power and efficiency higher. Some drivers even report an increase in gas mileage by 1 to 2 miles per gallon. What's more, it can take less than an hour using standard household tools to replace the old, suffocating factory air box.

Best yet, Volant gives most vehicles a performance filter choice: the original high-performance cotton-gauze filter with cleaning intervals of 35,000-50,000 miles, or the all-new oil-free PowerCore air filter, requiring maintenance after a whopping 100,000 miles.

"I just put this with a ram air scoop on my 2001 Chevy 1500, 5.3. It shifts a lot easier but as for the MPG there was actually a drop. I'm hoping I've got a bad plug and a tune up will fix it but not happy so far with the cost to do nothing. I do like the sound but more of a Novelty..."

"Installed on an 06 Sierra 2WD with a 4.8. The intake looks great under the hood, much better than the stock unit. The ads may tend to overrate the performance a little bu it is certainly a great add-on. The throttle response is excellent, the power is good, and the sound is great!.. Sounds like an old 4-barrel with the secondaries wide open."

Round Two - A Volant Again!

"In 1999, I owned a GMC Yukon and moved to a Volant CAI system. I enjoyed the look, the performance, and the increase in mpg. Now that I have a 2006 Tahoe, with gas cost skyrocketing, a once again moved to a Volant. What I like about it is that in all power bands, the truck just seems to be smoother. It's now screaming for air but performs smoothly. When I punch it, it has a deep air intake noise that says, move or get out of the way, I'm coming through. When I just do normal driving, it behaves like a well tempered SUV!"

"The product appears to be good quality. It has been installed for about one month now. The only issue I had installing this kit was, the bolt holes on the air box for the mass air meter did not line up correctly. I had to elongate two of the bolt holes of my mass air meter to fit. It took about three to five minutes extra to fit the meter. The rest of the installation went smoothly. I noticed that the throttle response was smooth, and an increase in power. I am now conducting a fuel milage test with this unit. Unfortunately, I do not have any results at this time."

"The intake was extremely easy to install even though the instructions are basically a parts list. It took about 20 to 30 minutes to install. There is a noticable improvement in off the line acceleration. There is also improvement in passing acceleration. I have not recalculated my miles per gallon yet. I suspect any improvement in MPG may be offset by more aggressive driving because the truck is more fun to drive."

"I received this volant CAI for my 02 gmc sierra from autoanything for the best price around. The product is great, looks great, and everything fits perfectly. I can feel the increased throttle response every time i give it some gas. The only problem is with the directions, they are terrible, but a little trial and error and it worked out great. Good product i would recommend it to anyone. Thanks Cody"

"The instructions are bad. They don't tell you about disconnecting the battery and my truck has 3 hoses not 4 like they showed. K & N site was very helpfull with this. Also the big intake opening on the box which you are to put a strip of rubber onto so it will seal against the inside fender wall would not fit on the lip of this opening. It was WAY to thick for the rubber to side onto. I had to use a dremmel tool and grind away alot of this plastic to make it thin enough. No change at all in MPG. Does sound very nice. Overall I'm happy."

"With the current price of gasoline being what it is, I am working to improve the lackluster MPG of a 4x4 supercrew. Overall the kit was easy to install and of exceptional quality. I had one issue with clearance between the powersteering reservoir and the new air box. I had to "adjust" the reservoir mounting. First trip 600 miles 16.75 mpg running 75 - 80 mph. That is up almost 1.5 mpg with no change in driving (bad) habits. Total of 1921 miles since kit installation average combined mpg of 16.81 city and highway. "Installed the unit in my 2005 Cadillac CTS. Before install was getting 23.5MPG after 3 tank fulls getting 24.3 an increase of .8 not as good as past K&N's. Is loud when taking off louder then expected. CTS was fast at take off have not felt any increase. Corresponded with tech at Volant they said unplug battery to reset computer. Did that nothing changed. Stick with K&N."
