Description

Increase performance up to 18 horsepower, add 40 lbs of torque and even save gas mileage with the Volant Cold Air Intake System! The rocket scientists at Volant have truly outdone themselves with this one.

The Hi-Flow Velocity Air Box breathes in oodles of performance-enhancing air via the massive air duct. Many Volant Cold Air Intakes also include an enclosed air box that takes power and efficiency higher. Some drivers even report an increase in gas mileage by 1 to 2 miles per gallon. What's more, it can take less than an hour using standard household tools to replace the old, suffocating factory air box.

Best yet, Volant gives most vehicles a performance filter choice: the original high-performance cotton-gauze filter with cleaning intervals of 35,000-50,000 miles, or the all-new oil-free PowerCore air filter, requiring maintenance after a whopping 100,000 miles.

"After installing the Volant intake (which was a breeze by the way), I definitely noticed a difference. It wasn't huge, but the tone and throttle response was much crisper. Also, when going through the upper rpm range, there isn't as much drop off in power as there was with the stock setup. This is my second Volant intake and plan to buy another in the future."

"Easy to see that Volant put a lot of time, research and effort into their design. Large Cold Air sealed box is impressive; as is the evident performance increase I noticed. Appearance is 5 Stars as well; the aluminum logo'd box cover is a great touch, and the heavy black plastic is sturdy and rough textured. Only weakness is the instructions; exloded diagrams are great for some, but some verbal guidance would be of benefit to all."

"I received the intake on time as promised. Overall the look of the intake is sweet really brightens up the engine bay. Not to bad on istall, took me about 45 minutes, had some trouble with the bolts going in. Ok as far as performance I can feel a little bit more power at higher rpms, and when it shifts its alot smoother. Not too much sound from the intake seeing is its an enclosed box. Ok gas mileage, I keep my foot in the gas more than i should, therefore only got 14.5 mpg. When I added the intake and drove a full tank taking it easy and getting on it at times i got 16.7 mpg, so there is improvement. I think i can squeeze another 1-1.5 mpg if i drive normal and keep my foot out of it."

"Good Louderintake and exhaust add some torque/power helped the gas mileage also had dual exhaust and spacer for intake. Box does not fit correctly to big hood does not close correctly have to unbolt box to fit correctly. I like it because it keeps filter cleaner longer than a K&N Gen. II filter because of box but, allows it to breathe like the K&N."

"I figured since it only takes a few minutes to take out the stock airbox that it would only take a few minutes to install this intake too. Wrong. Plus there were a few things that made me scratch my head about this kit. First thing I noticed when I pulled it out of the box, they screwed their logo on upside down! But the thing I didn't like was that the web site says they use PowerCore filters, which was one reason I bought this kit since I do NOT like oiled filters. And of course they don't make a PowerCore filter for the TrailBlazer and it came with the filter that they say should be cleaned and oiled every 12k miles. Wonderful. The install was straight forward though, just attach the filter to the tube first because if you try and attach the filter after the tube is attached to the resonator it will pop out. The other thing that made me scratch my head a little was the holes in the cover didn't match up very well to the holes on the washer jug. So I had to drill one of them out a little bit. In defense of this kit however, it is an aftermarket part and most aftermarket parts like this don't fit as good as stock parts. As far as intakes go, I would say the Volant is the best though. Overall, I do like the kit though. It seems like I did get a little extra power and a little more noise at WOT. I'm not sure about economy gains yet because the first fill up after I installed this kit screwed it up because the pump kept clicking off and I didn't get the tank filled up all the way."
