"Having tried aftermarket intakes from Steeda and C&L (both with custom tunes, delivered via XCal II and XCal III programmers, respectively, from some of the most respected names in the Mustang tuning industry) and having returned them both as unsatisfactory, the Airaid was my last shot at an aftermarket intake for the car.
With both of the "tune/reflash required" intakes I tried, I gained considerable thrust at higher RPM (i.e., 3500 and better) but paid a significant torque penalty down low (2500 and less). The loss of low-end grunt really made the car unpleasant to drive in rush-hour traffic. Since it's my daily driver, that was a critical problem. (For what it's worth, I've begun to suspect that the elevation where I live -- 6,000 feet -- played an important role here. Many, many Mustang owners at lower elevations are delighted with the same intakes and tunes that simply didn't work for me.)
The Airaid comes with a removable "venturi" insert. In place, it constricts the intake where the mass airflow sensor is located, ensuring that the car's computer can maintain appropriate air/fuel ratios without the need for a custom tune. Some fellow Mustang owners on the Internet forums were pleased with their Airaid kits, so I decided to try one.
The supplied instructions were some of the best I've seen, and the installation was relatively painless. There was one point where I had to cut the (apparently, heat-shrunk) ends of the breather tube running from the passenger-side valve cover to the intake tube -- an irreversible operation -- but that was the diciest part of it. (Of course, by then, I'd installed the Steeda, then put the factory intake back on, then installed the C&L, then put the factory intake back on...)
I must say the quality of the Airaid is outstanding. The materials, construction and fit were all top-notch. (Better even than the very nicely made Steeda intake.)
Was it worth it? Well, first, it looks great. Much more visually interesting than the stock intake, if you care about appearances "

"Installed in about 40 minutes with clear instructions and all appropriate parts included. Good looking installation. The sound is unique to other intake systems I have used in the past ie: K and N and Volant. I prefer Volant but their system is a little pricey in comparison.
It's rather hard to evaluate performance gain without a Dyno but it appears to have helped. Don't know about mileage yet. I don't really think the heat shielded intakes perform as well as the enclosed types because there is a large amount of engine heat leakage around the sides where not completely enclosed.
Overall a good product and I would purchase again."

"The ease of installing the Airaid system was remarkable. All parts came with the unit and the step-by-step instructions were spot on. I do not have any feedback about performance/milage increase but suspect that it will increase. I can state that the transmission shifts faster, especially when downshifing, the throttle response is crisper. The power band feels higher and over a longer RPM range. It is as if the engine came alive, what it should be. Very nice."

"Installed an airaid cold air intake system as well as throttle body spacer on wife's yukon xl. Really woke up that 5.3 liter v-8. In conjunction with a gibson cat back exhaust, loaded down the truck makes 18.5 miles per gallon at almost 75 mph on the highway. Would recommend to any gm owner."

"I just made an 800 mile trip with my car after installing the AirAid system. The installation was easy and done in just over a half hour. There was a very noticeable low end power improvement as well as through the rest of the rpm band. Like most people, I had my foot down a lot and my fuel mileage was skewed. The noise level did not seem to change any. I already had full dual exhausts on the car and any engine noise change was not observed. For the price I believe it was a worthwhile investment. Thanks. "The instructions for the installation was very well drawn out and made the installation very easy. :-)
My only complaint is the airaid intake tube had a small defect where the mass air sensor slides into. There was a small hole around the edge of the plastic; which I filled in w/ black silicone.
The airaid definitely added some horsepower; however I did not feel much of a tourque increase.
In the near future, I am planning on adding a tune to the Airaid to see it's full potential!!"

"Autoanything was excellent as usual. The product was the cheapest at autoanything and it was at my door step in no time. The intake was not what I expected. I expected a full intake and all I got was the tube from the Mass airflow sensor forwards. I installed the intake which was very easy to do. I was disappointed that the system came with no heat shield either. I ran the intake for about a month and other than sounding amazing it did nuthing for my truck. Gas mileage was slightly better when I babied it. However I never babied it due to the sound. I also lost power with the intake. I really noticed it towing a trailer up hill. The intake was a waste of money for me. Autoanything was great though."

"I wanted to get quicker throttle response and got it. I wanted the sound to be throatier and got it. I wanted better gas mileage and got it by at least 2 mpg. This Airaid Intake System works as good as it is advertised. And it was pretty easy to install even for a novice like me. I had two brackets turned around, but they were easily reversed. It took me an hour and half to install, but I went slow making sure I did it right and it all fit perfectly. And it looks great.
Thank you for making such a great product."

"Let me talk about why I have a full-size truck, a 2003 dodge ram (4.7L) I am home owner and a do-it-yourselfer. I use my truck to drive to work and light towing and hauling. The power of the truck has always been adequate for my needs. I get about 12 miles to the gallon. The current gas prices are annoying
So I got Airraid intake system to help out with the fuel economy.
The results. Fuel economy did not rise, but the overall performance has gotten better.
The throttle response was a surprising marked improvement. It does have a nice throaty tone when you have to get the RPMs up. It was easy to install
Would I buy it again? Maybe. It didn’t help with the fuel economy, but the other perks are O.K."

Subjectively, low end torque has improved. I have seen an improvement in gas mileage on the car's computer, but it still too early to provide exact numbers."

"I haven't had the unit installed very long. I didn't personally install it so I can't attest to ease of installation. The gas mileage seems slightly improved but again haven't even run a tank of gas all the way through. The sound when you get "on it" is really cool. Turns heads and really opens up the 2.4 engine. I don't know what sort of horse power gain I got but the "seat of the pants" test was significant. Much more responsive. I have to be careful off the line or else the tires break lose. I suspect I'll have the same problem with gas mileage if I don't behave! Nice! The price was also right. I highly recommend the Airaid Intake System. Thanks!"
