"Although it sounds great, I only noticed a small throttle response. As far fuel economy, it appears I burn more fuel after adding the intake. I am not impressed at all. Too big a cost for little to no performance increase."

"Since I installed my intake kit I diffently notice an increase in horse power. The kit was extremely easy to install much to my liking. My experience in dealing with AutoAnything was great. I actually ordered two kits and they checked with me before shipping both kits to insure I wanted both kits which I thought was very considerable. I ordered my kit and I had it at my door step in two days. Very outstanding service. Thank you to everyone at AutoAnything who I dealt with for the excellent service. Service like that is hard to find in these days."

K&N 77 Series Metal Intake Kit bumps hiway mpg 10%

Posted on 05/28/2006 by David P. - 2006 GMC Yukon (Charlottesville,VA)

"My 2006 Yukon SLT was getting real-life 19.2 mpg on the interstate per the on-board information system. I added the K&N 77 Series Metal Intake Kit and it went to 21.1. That is about 10% and will pay for itself in the first year. The sound is fine. Throttle response in lo rpm is a little quicker. Install is not that bad but took me more than 30 minutes to get it perfect. I recommend it."

Instant throttle response!

Posted on 05/27/2006 by Roland G. - 2006 Dodge Dakota (Torrance,CA)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"When I first received my K&N 77 for my 2006 Dakota, I took the time to assemble it prior to installing it my truck. It took about 15 to 20 minutes to fully assemble. The instructions that were provided were pretty good and east to follow. When it came to actully installing it in my truck, it was a very exact tight fit. The only problem I encountered was on the clamp that was provided to fit on the throttle body require a longer screw (2") that was provided, but was a metric thread, instead of the 8/32" x 2" that would allow the clamp to fit. After a quick trip to the local HomeDepot I was able to clamp on the system and feel the "Instant throttle response". When you first step on the gas it is so smooth and you hear the engine respond. On the dyno chart that is sent with the system, it says that for my engine (3.7L), I could expect a 6 h.p. increase , which is good for me. I have not had a chance to check the gas mileage, but I'm sure it will be a slight increase. Even one mile per gallon would be good enough with the fuel costs nowadays. I would definitly recommend this to anyone, plus it looks really nice. RJ Geeman"

"I'm one of those people that I have to see it for myself. the K & N filter did just that, the installation was easy,I don't want to sound like everybody else but this filter works sounds better when you put your foot down, but the gas milage goes up,i've gain about 3 miles to the gallon in my 2004 F-150,with the 5.4 engine."

Posted on 05/20/2006 by Greg A. (Mesquite,TX)

"Easy installation. Noticed gain in horepower right off. Avg. fuek economy in city was around 13.3 before . . . 15.3 after. According to my fancy information center that comes on these trucks now. Its as if i had been driving around with my emergency brake slightly engaged then released it. My truck just runs better now. My check engine light did come on but after i turned my truck off for a few hours and restarted it, the check engine light was off. Haven't had a problem since. This intake is a bit pricey but i would recommend it to anyone who wants to add some new life into their rig."

My second K&N

Posted on 05/20/2006 by Ronald N. (Monroe,GA)

"I have a K&N kit in my 2005 Mini Cooper and it has lived up ro my expectations both for increased horsepower as well as mpg improvement. I installed the second kit on my 2003 Chevy Silverado 5.3 V8. It was very easy with excellent instructions. It took about 2 hours but I am very slow and methodical. Could be done by a mechanic in 30 to 45 minutes. I can't tell about mpg yet but love the sound coupled with my Borla Cat Back split exhaust. I wouldn't even think about any intake kit except K&N."

"I have low tolerance for vague instructions, missing parts or parts that don't fit well. This kit is A-1 in all those areas. I did'nt get to compare the milage difference before I had a 6" lift and 35" X 12.5" tires put on my truck, but I checked it after and my gas mi. was the same!"

I have little motor knowledge, the directions, a little unclear but I was able to figure it out and installed the unit in 1 hour. I did see HP inprovement and about 1 MPG improvement."

"I wasn't expecting much of a difference in the preformance of my 2002 Durango after I hooked the Air Intake up. Let me tell you I was dead wrong, it has pick up that I never thought would happen. It feels like a whole new engine, it is awesome. The sound when you stomp on the gas is outstanding, it roars, and sounds so boss ! Hooking it up was a snap, the directions are so good, anyone that can read can hook it up. I had no problems what so ever. I am not sure if it will help my gas miles but time will tell, thats if I can stop stomping on the gas long enough"

A Snap To Install

Posted on 05/15/2006 by Mark M. - 2005 Ford Explorer (Lancaster,CA)

"I installed the 77 Series on my '06 F-150 hoping to improve fuel economy. The installation was easier than I thought it would be. It looks and sounds cool and it does seem to improve the performance a bit. However, I've only been through a couple of tanks of gas and the fuel economy actually seems to have fallen off. Thus far I have not noticed any improvements. Maybe I need to give it more time."

1 of 2 people found the following review helpful.

"Once the motor compartment layout was compared to the K&N 77 instruction sheet the installation was very obvious. The hardest part was fitting the gasket material around the supplied heat shield. In my case it required glue (GOOP) and clamps in order for it to conform to the shields's shape. To date it has only been driven on short trips and the HP increase seems to parallel K&N's graphical data sheet. It's much more noticeable at higher RPMs. The air intake noise also increases with engine speed. With only one tank of gas used since installation, it appears that mileage has improved about one MPG."
