K&N 77 Series Metal Intake Kit

"I have a 2001 4 door taco with the v-6 ingine, I have a 5 inch lift on it with 33" tires. I have always been complaining about the lack of power and poor fuel milage. The only solution I could come up with was either 1) regear the truck w/ 4.88 or 5.29 or 2) try for more power through exhuast and intake system. I went with option two because it seemed cheaper and I would get a better sound out of the ingine. Anyways to make a long story short I ended up getting a flowmaster muffler replacement and this intake system, and now I have a very nice power gain and I gained about 2 Miles to the Gallon on gas!!! This intake system litterally is paying for itsself!"

2003 Expedition

"My nephew installed the Series 77 K&N intake kit on my 2003 5.4Liter Expedition in less than an hour. I immediately felt the difference on the gas pedal. It is much more responsive. I took a weekend trip to Sonoma County, about 150 miles. My gas milage improved 1.5 to 2 MPG on the highway. I haven't noticed any improvement in town, probably because I like the extra sound and power when I take off from the stop light, and I'm probably using more throttle than necessary. It is a good addition to this vehicle and I highly recommend it."

"Recently installed on my 2003 Dodge Ram with Hemi motor. Sounds awesome with the Full Boar dual exhaust. Can definately feel the power increase especially in the mid range. Seems like less fuel consumption but haven't measured yet. Having to much fun get'n on it!"

05 Tundra Crew Cab

"Installs in less than an hour and K&N's instructions were easy to understand. I was not expection the additional cabin noise however. It really made the truck loud inside however the increase in power makes up for the noise. Nice looking product and it seems to live up to the K&N reputation. Sam- Upland,CA."

"This was a great item and was very easy to install the only unclear instructions where in regards to what to do with a bolt relocation for the secondary support bar otherwise a easy product not sure exactly what hp gain is but feels stronger"

2006 Avalanche, 5.3L

"Installation took me about 1 1/2 hrs. I had a little trouble with the fit of the clamps, but other than that it went smoothly. For my application it was approx an 8.5hp gain. I Kind of wished I would have opted for the FIPK series again instead. That would have bumped it up to about a 12hp gain. Performance and mileage appear only slightly better, if at all. Having said all that, I have no regrets. It does produce a nice sound under acceleration; this is the second vehicle that I have installed a K&N intake on."

Growl and Snarl

"Item is easily installed with basic hand tools and instructions are clear and complete. Intake gives an awesome throaty intake woosh when you jump on the throttle and the exhaust comes to life with a growl milliseconds after. Exhaust sound is near factory levels when you aren't heavy on the throttle so you won't scare pedestrians(unless you want to). Another great product that is well built and well designed by K&N."

"Took about 1 hour to install. Felt the instructions could be a little more detailed. The first thing I noticed when I started my truck was that it was just as smooth as it always was until I gave it heavy gas and then it made a definitely more growling sound. Nice! ;<) All in all one of the better purchases I've made for my truck and so far I've seen about a 1.5 mile per gallon increase in mileage. That should help offset the cost down the road. Will "

Max Air Flow

"Over the last 10 years or so, I have used K&N products in all my cars and trucks. Having used their FIPK kits on my last two vehicles I can say with some certainty that this is one of the best products that I have seen come out of K&N's design team. Well made, excellent fit and finish, and does add an outstanding custom look. Functionally, it provides a significant air flow increase over the stock design and has a very pleasing sound when you plant your right foot on the gas pedal. Heavy duty, great function, superior finish, performance boost - this has it all. My only issues may be heat (time will tell on this one) from the engine may be transmitted through the metal tube more easily than the composite FIPK units and the cost (although the cost is comparible to their competitors)."

"This product does exactly what it claims. I installed it on a 2003 4WD 2500HD 6.0L. There is absolutely a noticable difference in throttle response and power. In additon, it really adds some good tone to the truck. The fit could have been a little better. Other that that it is a great product. I would recommend it to anyone."

"EASY TO INSTALL BUT THE HOSE CLAMP THAT FITS OVER THE 3-1/2" SILCON HOSE ELLBOW AND THROTTLE BODY WAS NOT A PERFECT FIT. IT WOULDN'T CLAMP TIGHT. I TALKED TO K&N TECHNICAL DEPT. AND SPOKE TO LEON BUT HE WASN'T MUCH HELP EXCEPT TO HAVE ME E-MAIL HIM PICTURES SO HE COULD FORWARD THE INFOMATION TO THE ENGINEERING DEPT. ALSO, THE FILTER INTERFERS SLIGHTLY WITH THE WASHER FLUID RESEVIOR. READING ON K&N-77 FILTERS SYSTEMS TOLD ME THAT IT WILL PRODUCE MORE NOISE AND POWER BUT I CAN'T TELL. THERE ISN'T ANYMORE NOISE THAN BEFORE EXCEPT FOR A HISSING SOUND WHEN EXCELLERATING. IT IRRITATING TO HEAR THIS SOUND. SOUNDS LIKE A TIRE IS LEAKING AIR."

"This kit was very easy to install along with cat back exhaust system. Very noticable difference from stock. Revs up more freely and revs up much quicker. Driveability much improved. Went from 20.5 mpg to 21.7 mpg. Highly recommended."

"I installed this product with absolutely no experience working under the hood of my SUV. Done in 45 minutes flat. Just returned from a road, great mileage was received. Getting approx. 85 miles more per tank than before. I would recommend the product to everyone."
