It's hard to believe that an air intake will have a large impact on your gas mileage when you drive at normal or conservative rpm numbers. However, the truck sounds like it can really breathe now and the look on my honeys face the first time we went uphill was fantastic. The truck does feel slightly stronger but as with others the temptation to put the pedal down to hear that new throaty growl is seriously tempting.

I've been looking for upgrades for my 2007 Ford F150 Lariat. The system is fairly expensive but, I waited until I could get a special discount from AutoAnything via coupon code. It arrived in less than a week. I installed it in less the 1 1/2 hours. Truck has a great sound when you hit the gas. Noticed performance increase in HP right away. So far, I'm very happy with the product. Can't wait to upgrade the exhaust system so my truck can breath even better.

Noticeable increase in power 1mpg improvement on local driving, did not notice a change on 350 mile hwy trip, weather may have factored into that. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE PLASTIC PCV PLUG IT WILL BREAK OFF. Had to use some body shop epoxy to fix that.

Best option FIPK 57 K&N air intake or K&N 77 series for most power? Also what chip / programmer option gives Jeep Wrangler Sahara 2008 best bang for the buck to go along with either K&N?
Answered by Nathan S. — Apr 08, 2013 9:47 AM
Hi, Nylon intake tubes make more power than metal tubes, as they insulate radiant engine heat better. For tuners, this monster gives you the best bang for your buck: Bully Dog GT For Jeep Tuner

Hi, We don't offer 77 series for the new body style 2500 6.0L at the moment but we do have a 57 series (which makes more power).

How many customers also use a Hypertech programmer along with this air intake? Thanks, Travis
Answered by Nathan S. — Mar 06, 2013 7:51 AM
Hi Travis, Probably thousands. The usually bolt-on parts combo for our performance enthusiasts is a programmer, cold air intake and a cat back exhaust. The power and MPG gains are pretty similar no matter which brand you choose, but each brand has specific feature benefits that may appeal to you like the finish of an intake or adjustable parameters of a specific tuner.

When will K&N Series 77 be available for a 2011 Ford Edge?
Answered by Nathan S. — Feb 26, 2013 8:45 AM
Hi John, It could be soon or never, depending on the design of the intake tube. If the stock unit flows well, there may be no reason for K&N to make an aftermarket intake for the Edge.

I am considering this intake kit for my Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson 6.2 V8 4WD. I have installed a 2" leveling kit. I have read that this is not designed to fit if a body lift has been done. Will this intake work on my vehicle?
Answered by Nathan S. — Feb 18, 2013 10:02 AM
Hi, A body lift (spacers in between the frame and body) moves the mounting position of the air box out of its factory location. If you have this style of lift, the intake will not fit. A leveling kit is a form of suspension lift (spacers on top of the springs) which will not change the air box location, in which case, the intake will fit fine.

Info says the 77 series intake kit is not available for the 2011 Ford Edge. There are customer reviews for 2007, 2008 and 2012 Edges further down the article. Is there an intake kit or not? K&N lists part no. 77-2583KS for the 2011 Edge, but it is not currently available.

What is the biggest difference between 77 series intake or 63 series intake, besides the price???
Answered by Nathan S. — Jan 08, 2013 7:49 AM
Hi, The 63 series is the pre-CARB certified version of the 57 series and uses a molded nylon tube which can be formed into a more efficient bend unlike the metal tube found in the 77 series. Sure, with the 77 series you miss out on 1 hp or so, but if you want a nice looking engine bay, this shiny gem of an intake is hard to beat.

which is the suggested series to use on a 2000 tahoe for more performance?
Answered by Jason K — Jun 20, 2012 2:58 PM 2007 Chevy Silverado
The 57 series FIPK adds 14.26HP @ 5018 RPM while the 77 series metal intake adds 8.23HP @ 5067 RPM. Traditionally, the high density polyethylene in the 57 series conducts less heat from the engine compartment which in turn allows cooler denser air to enter the throttle body creating more power. Where the 77 series lacks in power it adds in "bling" under the hood.

Unfortunately it appears that our manufacturers do not offer a CARB legal kit at this time. If you are looking for power and economy, we may offer a cat-back exhaust system or a programmer to give you a boost in performance.

will this work with a airraid throttle body spacer on a 2002 toyota tundra 4.7 v8
Answered by Anonymous — May 01, 2012 8:38 AM 2011 GMC Sierra
There may be an issue with clearance. Your hood may not close right. Other than that, you may need to trim the intake tube to fit.
flagAnswered by Nathan S. — Apr 25, 2012 11:49 AM 2001 Chevy Silverado
Since the spacer is moving the entire intake track out of factory position, you may have to modify the kit to get it to fit.

Is K&N ever going to get CARB status for the 2009-2012 Ford Flex ? I suspect not, as the car model has been on the streets for 4 years. I won't install one if I have to remove it every time I go for a smog check... Rich...
Answered by Nathan S. — Apr 25, 2012 11:54 AM 2001 Chevy Silverado
Thats really hard to tell Rich. The decision to apply for CARB certification could be dependent on several factors such as the kits effects on emissions, demand for the product, or other unforseen reasons only known to K&N. We will however update our listings with a CARB E.O number as soon as it is available.

You do not show this product for the 2012, but you do show it for 2011. I believe all engine components and the underhood compartment are the same in 2012 as they were in 2011. Please let me know if this cold air intake system will work with my 2012 4-cyl GMC SLT2 Terrain. Thank you.
Answered by Nathan S. — Apr 25, 2012 12:01 PM 2001 Chevy Silverado
K&N is very fast when it comes to releasing their kits for the next model year. I wouldnt be surprised if GMC changed the location of a hose fitting on the intake for the 2012 forcing K&N to make a new mold. As soon as the 2012 application is a available, we will have it on our site.

The 57 series is the 50 state legal version of the 63 series.

Answered by Nathan S. — Apr 25, 2012 12:03 PM 2001 Chevy Silverado
Both kits will sound the same. You will see a marginal power increase with the 63 series over the 77 series due to the fact that the nylon intake tube can be molded to create more efficient bends than an aluminum tube.

WILL THIS 77 SERIES K&N WORK ON A 2011 SILVERADO 2500HD? THE ONLY ONES LISTED TO WORK ON OTHER SITES WERE AN AIRAID SETUP AND SOME OTHER NO NAME BRAND. I'VE ALWAYS PREFERED K&N OVER OTHER BRANDS AND IF THIS ISN'T THE RIGHT SET UP FOR MY TRUCK, DO YOU KNOW WHICH IT IS. WHEN I ENTERED THE SUB-MODEL IT SAID SILVERADO 1500 6.0L NOT 2500 6.0L.
Answered by Nathan S. — Apr 25, 2012 12:06 PM 2001 Chevy Silverado
Unfortunately at the moment, K&N only makes a drop in panel filter for your application. This could be due to fitment issues or if your factory intake flows efficiently as is. K&N will not release a product unless noticeable gains in performance are generated.
