"took a while to install, directions were REALLY generic and unspecific. took me and my two brothers. I did it and they stood by to offer their two cents and make sure I didn't screw anything up. Took at LEAST an hour and a half and there were times it didn't seem right, but it works out in the end.
my buddy and I took my mounty out later that night to the country to open it up some. WOW! sounds VERY aggressive (doesn't sound like it's dying when you get up past 4000 rpm's and sounds absolutely jaw-dropping when you gun it), shifted MUCH smoother, throttle response is much more reliable (the extra juice of the v8 doesn't kick in unexpectedly anymore for seemingly no reason when you don't want it to, you give what you get from the throttle), and it loosened up a couple hundred rpm's. it's cold right now so I haven't really checked fuel economy. my cars fuel economy sucks in the cold either way. we had some warm days and it seemed to be getting about 280 miles to the tank instead of 260, but thats a fairly loose estimation."

"Some time ago I added a dual exhaust system to my '05 Magnum. I had heard that the K&N FIPK was worthwhile up-grade for the intake side of the equation.
After shopping around for the best price, I ordered the part from AutoAnything.
I'm very satisfied with my purchase. The engine sounds better, and has a noticably better 'throttle response'.
After the initial fun of hammering on it wears off, I'll check the gas milage. Right now there's no point!"

"Good product, easy to install and makes a noticable difference in performance, at least it seems to. The only thing I was not completely satisfied with was the look. The pictures look good, but in person the look is a little on the cheep side. If looks are NOT important, this is a good product at a good price. If you are looking for some bling under the hood, go with something else, like a chrome or painted unit. K&N does offer higher priced, better looking units. And they do have a very good reputation for quality filters. For me a quality filter and improved performace was most important, so the look, while disapponting, is not an issue."

"As many folks have noted, this unit definitely increases engine noise especially at half to wide-open throttle. It sounds, "throatier." More accurately, it sounds like a V8 again. I cannot attest to horsepower gains as the only real way to know if there was an increase is to put the vehicle on a dyno, but I will say that throttle response seems more crisp. There is no longer a, "dead-spot," at 0%-20% throttle. It's also too early for me to mention any improvement in gas mileage; however, one would tend to think that less air restriction equals more air in the cylinder equals less fuel consumption. Take it for what's it worth. Buy your own and formulate your own opinion."

"The K&N kit was installed on an 04 K1500 Suburban with a 3:73 rear and 104K miles. Covering the same route with the same fuel at the same speed etc., the mpg went from 16.9 mpg to 18.9. Installation was slow as the MAF removal gave me a hard time. Positioning the intake tube, lining up and tightning the clamps at the throttle body was becoming frustrating, until my wife held the tube in place. Now that I've done one the next installation might be quicker."

"Easy to install, cant complain about the instructions ( one or two parts had me guessing) noticed about .5- 1.5 mpg increase depending on speed on hwy, On my hemi 05 durango that equals about a gallon or 20 miles more per tank so it will pay for itself soon. Very quiet below 2.5k rpms then the monster roars loudly :) (my girl loved the look on my face as I grinned devishly) so for the first week or so you wont see any fuel savings as you will be floorin' it to feel the increase power that is there. I noticed slightly quicker response on dead stop acceleration, at speed my D rolls much faster through the digits on command. I debated for almost 2 years whether or not to get one, now I know I should have gotten one 720 days ago. I highly recommand and auto anything got my order to me on time and when promised actually for the same intake from discount auto was 180 dollars more and a 2 week wait, i got mine in 3 days..."

"Order and purchase was simple and the kit arrived on the scheduled date. Installation was fairly simple in under 2 hours. K&N's instructions were easy to follow, however it would be helpful if the included (or web page)exploded assembly diagram was larger so it would be easier to see. Noticeable improvement in throttle response and pickup on the 2.7L 5-speed manual trans 4x4. Waiting to calc gas mileage improvement after a full tank. By comparison, the FIPK came wrapped well in a box about three times larger than necessary for the contents; the removed factory intake assembly barely fit back in the FIPK box. Overall a great product. Makes you wonder why Toyota doesn't save a ton of plastic and cut a deal with K&N to put FIPKs on at the factory."
