Description

More passing power, more towing power and better acceleration. The K&N FIPK (Fuel Injection Performance Kit) smoothes and straightens huge volumes of incoming air, allowing your engine to breathe deep and roar. You’ll feel the power across the entire RPM range.

The backbone of the FIPK is the high-flow K&N Filtercharger air filter in K&N’s signature pink color. It’s washable, reusable, and lasts for the life of your ride. Couple that with the custom crosslink nylon intake tube, and the K&N FIPK Air Intake runs faster and cooler than the competition.

Installation? It’s a cinch. K&N packs the FIPK with a complete hardware kit and detailed step-by-step instructions to get the job done in less than an hour and a half. It even mounts to factory locations—no modifications or drilling. And, K&N protects your FIPK Air Intake Kit with a 10-year/1,000,000-mile warranty. Order now, and feel the FIPK difference everywhere you drive.

Notes

  • Emissions-related parts for new model year vehicles may be in "pending" status for CARB certification. Earning certification takes time, but will be complete before your new vehicle's first smog check.
  • AutoAnything’s exclusive 90-day money back guarantee: try it out and if it doesn't fully meet your expectations – installation was too difficult, performance gains weren’t impressive - send it back in any condition for a full refund. AutoAnything is not responsible for return shipping.
  • CARB exempt products are legal for use in all 50 states. Products that are not CARB exempt are legal in most states, but may not be used in California or states with similar emissions control laws.

"The installation was easier than removing the stock inlet system. Throttle response is much crisper, acceleration better. When you floor the gas the engine sounds really healthy, although the engine also sounds as if its holding back. Can't hardly wait to install the Borla cat back system thats laying on my living room floor and do the computer with the Superchips Programmer. Will keep you updated."

"I wanted improvement in response, and thats what I got. Shipment arrived in about a day or two. Installation was easy, although I had to run out and buy a couple hose clamps. Runs good, sounds good, looks good. A nice boost to an aging engine, especially in the thin mountain air."

"I bought this intake because I have always heard it's a great addition to any car. Boy were those reviews correct! I'm seeing 3mpg more, and an increased idle response that normally lagged a little...typical Ford problem. All in all, a great value, and an excellent addition to any car, truck, van, or SUV!"

Throttle Response

Posted on 09/23/2007 by Nash G. - 2006 Ford F-150 (Scarborough,ME)

"The fit is OK. The brace that mounts on the alternator isn't right for the 02 Ford F150 4.2. It's too short. I had to pad the bracket the holds the intake tube with pipe insulation to get the proper height... after bending it and adding a nut between the bracket and the top of the alternator.. to raise it. Leave everything loose and tighten each section after everything is in place. Throtten response makes this kit worth the money. It's at least a 75% improvement. The feel on accelaration is totally different. No difference on milage. I've had these on 3 trucks and I'd get another one."

More Air Equals More Power

Posted on 09/21/2007 by D W. (Lebanon,OH)

"Although I have been using K&N filters on all of my cars for the last several years this is my first intake kit. I installed it on a 05' 330I w/Performance Package. The increased airflow smoothed out and improved accelleration and fuel economy. There is a noticable increase in power. The BMW factory version of this mod suggests a modest 3 HP gain at over twice the cost. K&N claims 11.46 HP gain on 04' 330I, although I don't have access to a dynamometer I believe my install has at least matched this. Besides all that, it sounds really cool!"

"I have a Super-Cab with 4 Wheel Drive and just ran a Dyno. With this intake and a Flowmaster Dual Side Exhaust Kit I ran 232hp(Rear Wheel) and 255ft/lb Torque. I love this FIPK kit. It installed extremely clean and easy and removing the factory airbox took out the whole top area of the engine compartment so it is now easier to get to everything else like the spark plugs. I took my time while being harassed by a friend and it took me 1 hour and 15 minutes. The wires do not go back on like the instructions state but I am not worried about it because they are in a good location. If only K&N made a supercharger!"

K & N FIRK for 2004 F-250 Diesel

Posted on 09/19/2007 by Lanny K. (Sarasota ,FL )

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.

"Instructions were exact and complete. Follow them carefully (to insure that you end up with the rubber bushings in the correct places). Total install time for me was 2 hours - I could easily do the next one in 1 hour. Fit was perfect. Performance, by the seat of my pants, is improved in off idle acceleration. Average fuel economy (after first days use) went up 1 MPG, from 16.8 up to 17.7-18.0 MPG. This is my 3rd K & N install, and by far the best kit to date."

Jeep Wrangler 6 Cyl.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"The K&N FIPK was very easy to install and it took only a couple of hours to complete. The hardware was of high quality and Made in USA (imagine that!). The results on my Jeep's performance are outstanding: 1. The old 6 cylinder engine seems to deliver a lot more torque as it quickly pulls out of low RPMs without "lugging" 2. I have recorded a 1.5 MPG (from 20 to 21.5 MPG) increase in the first 2 refills. I am Very happy with the product."

K&N FIPK on my 2004 Jeep GCO 4.7L V* HP

Posted on 09/18/2007 by Ronald B. - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Modesto,CA)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"I received and install the K&N FIPK Cold Air Intake unit in my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with a 4.7L V8 HP. The installation was pretty easy. I read the installation plans over a few times, then assembled what I could before doing the installation. I had to do a little cutting and fitting to install the rubber molding around the top and bottom of the heat shield. Once installed, and checked for leaks, I found the unit to be much more quiet then I expected. I really can’t tell much difference in sound in town, or the highway. I added a Stainless Steel Magnaflow Muffler, and switched my oil to 100% synthetic. So far I have only seen a slight improvement in MPG, but I am still very happy with the end results of the improvements I made. My Jeep just seems to run and sound better now."

outstanding results on VR4

Posted on 09/17/2007 by Sam B. - 1997 Mitsubishi 3000GT (Indianapolis,IN)

"Removing the factory air box and mass air sensor from the engine was easy. However, getting the factory air box detached from the mass air-flow sensor was a bit tiedous because of poor engineering choices by Mitsubishi. The plastic housing that held the "screws" in place broke so the nut just spun the screw. However, that has nothing to do with K&N other than they could include a warning in the installation instructions. Also, be very careful of the aluminum(?) honeycomb in the mass air sensor. It's very pliable and can be damaged easily. It's even entirely possible that someone has already done so when they were installing a new factory air filter. Mine were damaged badly enough, I just removed them as I was worried flakes from the honeycomb could wind up in the engine. I'm not qualified to recommend this to someone, but it is what I did with no ill effects that I have noticed. The FIPK's installation was a snap. Everything fit together tightly and the bracket's that hold the filter in place fit exactly as they should against interior fender wall. You did have to pay attention to which one went on which side of the filter, but that's to be expected. Performance is noticably better. The engine grumbles more deeply, rev's a bit faster and you can really tell the air-flow as increased as the "whine" from the turbos you get from about 2K to 3K RMP's was louder. The only point I was worried was after I started the car for the first time. It really didn't want to idle. There were a couple of points that I thought it might fade and die. I bit the bullet, got it out on the road and drove it and it behaved just as it should. The idle is normal again. I can't explain it, but that's what I observed. If you don't have one of these on your 3000GT VR4, I highly recommend you get one."
