"Best investment so far for my truck. Improved my fuel by 3 mpg! Ride is alot quiter and smoother. Has a great sound when the throttle is punched. Directions are pretty vague and can be confusing, but work able. A must have for all vehicles."

"Absolutely amazing! Installation went right by the book. Now the engine sounds like a real high performance machine. You can hear the rush of air coming in and the engine sound went from whining purr to a growl! I couldn't be happier."

"Noticeable power improvements with spirited driving. Spending only $220 it's well worth the gain of 9 hp. The complaint i have and i'm hoping it will go away is the intake makes a fairly loud whistling sound every time I accelerate. The K&N rep i spoke with stated this is normal and should go away after 200 miles have been driven. This should allow the throttle body to adjust to the new air sucked into it. Needless to say, I may return it if the sound does not go away soon."

"Although i haven't been able to go thorough it all the way, i can tell as soon as it was put on, i was in the back of my seat. The sound was beautiful. Along with that i'm going to see how i last on gas for the week. Seein that usually how long my truck last, dodge ram 1500. between running around college and work, it's always a pain to drop that 40 to 60 bucks a week on a half tank of gas, so if i make it to sunday of next week then i'm a believer."

"I installed this kit on my 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee w/ the 4.0L, inline 6. I tow a trailer alot and immediately noticed an increase in horsepower. Pleased w/ the results of the intake kit itself. However, was extremely disappointed in the quality of control when K&N shipped the kit. The parts bag was open and missing parts. I had to wait another week before I could install the kit and also had enough mechanical savy and used some of the Jeep parts off my original air intake. The venders that Autoanything deals w/ should have better quality in the shipping of their packages.

K&N cold air kit for Expedition 4.6
Posted on 06/13/2007 by William A. - 1996 Ford Mustang (Beaumont,TX)
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.
"This kit works really good. It installed in about two and a half hours taking my time cleaning stuff and fixing a couple of little problems along the way. Oh yeah, and most of the work was done after dark with a flashlight. Everything worked out as advertised except that the vacuum line fittings located near the factory throttle body on the cold air tube are located about 1" further forward than originally. The fix was to adjust the 5/8" factory vacuum line a little on the factory end at the nipple and it was then long enough to reach. Then the 3/4" vacuum line was fit-up as follows. The 3/4" vacuum line has a 90 degree factory plastic vacuum pot that had to have its nipple trimmed down first on the new cold air kit side of the 90 degree fitting. I just hacksawed off, very carefully, part of that nipple just behind the vacuum hose stop using the back of the stop as a guide. This left enough of the plastic nipple for the hose and allowed the fitting to rest where it could connect in place to the cold air kit nipple in a more straight lined up fashion. I used the extra 5/8" vacuum hose supplied in the kit for the 5.4 liter engine and cut approximately 1 1/4" off one end of the hose. This short 1 1/4" piece went to the cold air kit side of the vacuum pot and the remainder of the hose went to the factory nipple side. The 5/8" hose fit really good with a little manipulation and spit. This allowed room for the factory engine cover bracket to be refitted without any clearance issues. Also before beginning the work I had to go to the parts store to get the big clamp that holds the air filter on since someone else had already been digging in the box but that's no great big deal. Just take your time and round up all your parts first before beginning and it will be simple. Other than these two issues everything worked out smoothly but you have to remember that the manufacturer can't cover every contingent. I noticed later that the illustration in the instructions supplied by K&N d"

"I installed this product on my 02' Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L. Install was extremely easy, and it fit superbly. In conjunction with an after market exhaust at wide open throttle the FIPK makes the V8 sound more throaty and more like a V8 should. Performance gains are seen in the Dyno results but don't expect to feel the gains yourself. I would recommend this product to any GC owner."

"So far the K&N fipk air intake has presented a few troubles first the gromet for the crank vent did not come in the package and second the kit appears to produce a harmonic that shuts off the engine at low rpms ...still figuring that one out."

"Having never done any major structural work on an auto engine, I was a bit apprehensive. But, following the instructions, I installed the kit in about 90 min. And there wasn't a single wire, tube or bolt left unconnected! The unit works perfectly, giving a nice whoosh under acceleration. The extra 9hp (claimed) is like an extra flea pushing the elephant, but I know a freer-breathing intake is always a good idea. I've always installed filter upgrades on my motorcycles and I know this does make a difference in performance for them. And the unit looks great."
