Amazing shipping, intake arrived in 2 days and only took 10 minutes to install. Already noticed improvement in low end torque and fuel consumption at city speeds. City fuel useage improved by 5 MPG. Could not be happier. Also sounds nice in the 4000+ RPM range.

Well, I installed the kit and went to connect the bracket to the radiator hose only to find that the plastic piece inserted into the tube with the threaded bolt receiver was inside the tube. Thankfully I noticed it because if it would have sucked up into the engine... I took it apart and reinserted the piece then couple days later I got both engine banks running lean so I sealed them. I would use my money wiser next time. Guess everything these days are made cheap!!!!!!!!!!

All I ever had was K&N filters for all my vehicles but this was my first whole set up. It was well designed even with the modification I had to do that the instructions had shown. The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars because of the price but it was worth the price in the long run.

Overall pleased with product , however 2 yrs ago a purchased a spectre cold air intake for a 2000 dodge pick up let me tell super easy to install, spectre does not manufacture for my truck. The K&N is a bit challenging at first, because of the removal of the cruise control cable and redirecting some wires. Also the stud that is screwed at the very end of installation(goes on top)you tends not be securely tightened and leaves the the long tube a bit loose. Have noticed HP and Mpg gain.

Hi, I can't guarantee that a cold air intake and throttle body spacer will fit together without clearance issues on any car or truck. The spacer moves the precisely-designed bends of the intake out of position.

Answered by Nathan S. — May 03, 2013 3:00 PM
Hi, You don't need (and shouldn't try to install) a throttle body spacer with this kit. The tube bends are designed to fit the engine compartment with the throttle body in its stock location and a throttle body spacer WILL move everything out of place, causing probable fitment issues.

My friend has a K&N Cold Air Intake kit on his 2003 GMC Sierra Duramax 3500HD, whenever he's idling you can hear a loud hissing noise from the intake and when he pushes the gas then you hear a loud air spit. I wonder what model that is and if they're compatible with my 2003 Ford Crown Victoria LX or if there are models that are compatible and sound almost the same... ?
Answered by Nathan S. — Jan 25, 2013 11:32 AM
Hi, Cold air intakes remove the factory sound baffles, so hissing and whooshing sounds from the airflow is a common and very popular side effect. The K&N intake should do the same thing for your Crown Vic but the tone might be a bit different since the kit is on a different engine: http://www.autoanything.com/air-intakes/61A1914A0A0.aspx

Answered by Nathan S. — Jan 14, 2013 8:05 AM
Hi, I would say go with both. Figure the engine depends on incoming air as much as outgoing exhaust to operate efficiently. On a stock truck, a cold air intake or exhaust will provide 6-10hp and 1-3 mpg if you really keep your foot out of it. Also, keep in mind that bolting on performance parts usually doesn't translate into cumulative power gains.

Answered by Anonymous — Oct 22, 2012 7:25 AM
K&N states 11.42 HP at 4524 RPMs and that's revving pretty high but you'll see it throughout the power band and most people see a 2 to 3 MPG increase from gas motors. Not sure on the torque numbers but I'd say around 15 or 20 ft-lbs increase.

Is there anything that would prevent water from splashing onto the CAI?
Answered by Andrew B. — Oct 22, 2012 12:44 PM
There isn't much you can do in regards to the K&N part that fits your ride: http://www.autoanything.com/air-intakes/77A1914A2593876.aspx Volant makes a closed box intake but I don't see one for your specific vehicle. Depending on the location in your engine bay, the likelihood that the K&N intake will get soaked is very rare. Just be aware when you drive through very large puddles. That can negatively effect more areas within the engine bay as well and could cause your car to shut down while you're in the middle of a large water area.

I just recently put one on my 1997 Ford F-150 and the power increase is instantly noticeable. I mainly got it to increase MPG but I can really notice the HP gains through the entire power band. It just pulls harder and harder at higher RPMs than before and the acceleration is much smoother and nicer. Haven't had it enough to tell much about MPG but from what I can tell by watching my fuel gauge that it has gotten better as well.

Hello. For your 2012 Chevy Camaro with a 3.6 V6 engine, in my opinion the best available intake would be the K&N 63 series air intake. With that intake, you should see an increase of 11 more horsepower. I do not have a reading on how much fuel economy you will see, because most intake companies do not give out that information due to many different variables and driving conditions. It could be more with the colder air or it could be less because the airflow characteristics have changed. I would expect a +/- .1 hp change but a dyno run may show more accurate results if its a measureable change.

As long as its a 3" suspension lift. A body lift will move the mounting points of the intake system preventing installation.

I got a 91 chevy 2500 with a 454 whould it be worth spending the money on a K&N cold air intake

You bet it would! Anything to increase breathing will increase hp/mpg. I've been using this type of cold air pkg on all of my vehicles for the last 15 years.

I have a good K&N air Filter in the stock air intake for my '06 4.7L V8 Tundra... Would it be worth it to get a whole new cold-air intake?

Its a great idea because your factory air intake tube has inefficient bends which hurt your power and fuel economy.

Also, the nylon tube can be formed with more efficient bends than an aluminum tube.

Tyler the Nylon does not retain the heat as the metal does. With the metal even though you are pulling in cold air the heat from the metal lowers the temperature which in turns cuts down on performance. As for the nylon it does not retain the heat and performs much better. So the answer to your question is nylon is better than metal. Good luck. Matt

Should a bypass valve be used with this CAI? If so, what size filter would my F150 use?
Answered by Nathan S. — May 01, 2012 3:36 PM 2000 Mercury Cougar
A cold air intake will bolt in place just as your stock intake does. The filter size will vary from system to system but it will far outflow your factory unit.

Looking at purchasing this unit as part of an ongoing upgrade to my truck. I am currently changing out / upgrading the OEM cats to the new Hi Pro cats with dual exhaust. Any issues in regards to the installation of this unit that I need to be aware of upfront?
Answered by Nathan S. — May 01, 2012 3:37 PM 2000 Mercury Cougar
It will bolt in the same location as you factory intake system, you shouldnt see any installation issues as long as your truck doesnt have a body lift kit installed.

If I was to install the K&N FIPK Air Intake, along with a MagnaFlow Single-In, Dual-out on my 2010 Ford F150 XLT 4x4 5.4 with a 3.55 gear ratio, would I need to change anything in the computer due to the amount of air to fuel ratio change. Would it increase MPG?
Answered by Joshua L — Feb 28, 2012 7:29 AM 2004 Ford F-150
It should increaase mpg, you may want to buy a tuner or programmer for your computer. I did an 87 octane tune with a CAI and I also have a Roush Exhaust, Jet throttle body spacer and Jet performance chip.

Hey Ken, the best way is to use the K&N Filter Recharger Kit. You can find it in the Recharge Kit category in this same department.

You can go to the chat section in the upper left corner of the AutoAnything website. I'm looking for a product that will give me a decent gain in MPG. They mentioned a HyperTech Max E-con tuner chip...looking into it, this chip claims to clear engine codes.

how much am i expected (est) for any mpg increase? and short of scooping my hood are there any products avail to couple up with this to further my intake?
Answered by Trevor K — Oct 28, 2010 8:07 PM 2008 Chevy Silverado
it depends on how you drive the truck afterwards. if you drive like you normally do you can expect a 2-3 mpg increase (at least that's what i got on my f150). a lot of people have a tendency to drive faster which means your vehicle will be more powerful but your mpg will be similar to what it is today.
