I have had this K&N 69 Series installed in my 350z for a couple of weeks now. For my car it improved the power and I can feel it. This air intake system also sounds very good. Not to loud or crazy just a nice healthy quite purr that gets a little louder when throttling. Just what I wanted and I think you would like it too.

One of the clearest set of instructions I've ever seen. Took me, w minimal help from my husband when not sure if I was going to break something if I just used brute force on a couple of areas, about 2 hours total going at a leisurely pace. On the test drive I could tell it added just enough on take off to combat the slight turbo lag. Highly recommend!

I have a R56 cooper S and searched around for awhile before finally choosing K&N and I couldn't be happier. Not only does it look pretty cool it sounds vicious. It enhances the factory blow off valve. I was considering a blow off valve diverter but after installing this intake I don't think I'll waste my money on that (for now at least). Easy to install and would recommend! Thumbs up!

Honestly i know nothing about cars and im a learner in the making of vehicles. This air intake was the least expensive performance upgrade i would find. The installation was very easy and the car sounds and performs sounds amazing! Definitely purchase this product if you want to increase your performance for your vehicle and make it sound a little more beefy.

I removed my existing system base on the delivery of the new cold air intake. I was into the install when I discovered that the 4 hose clamps in the parts lisr were not included. I was not happy that I had to stop the installation and get to the hardware store to by hose clamps that where to be provided in the parts list part 08645 qty 4.

Great product... very noticeable instant difference in response...midrange HP most noticeable... after 4000rpm she growls like a pit bull.. and noticeable MPG gain.. would recommend definitely for anyone with a Camaro.. its pricier than some... and actually it seems the price has come down a lot... but it is worth every penny...

I have done TONS & TONS of research on cold air and short ram intakes. 75% of the time I read that AFTER you instal ANY type of cold air or short ram intake you need an accessport to modify the setting of the car since the 2011 WRX has a "short ram intake" and extremely sensitive to mods, If this is true, why does only Cobb have off the shelf mapping for it? This makes me beleive disconnecting the battery for 45/60 min will reset the MAF censor. Would this be true for the K&N intakes?
Answered by Nathan S. — Jun 05, 2013 2:02 PM
Hi, Intakes usually work fine out of the box (the manufacturers tend to dyno test them on cars with a stock tune). They do however benefit from a custom tune, hence Cobb's custom mapping. Disconnecting the battery wont reset sensors, only the ECU's adaptive strategy information that it has gathered and prevents voltage spikes from damaging sensors during installation. Try the intake out. If you like it, leave it alone. If you think it could do better, add a tune.

2013 Hyundai Elantra
1 Answer
1) I had the K&N 69 Series installed on my Elantra 2013 by my local hyundai dealership and i've noticed that my Elantra has gotten a little slow/sluggish at take off. It's almost like it lacks the power to take off. There is only 8k miles on my car by the way. 2) From 0-35 The Intake also makes a shaking noise like it's vibrating then at 40mpr (estimate) the sound smoothes out and you don't hear it. However, this seems to be abnormal. The intake is installed correctly by the way and I made sure that everything is tighten and nothing is loose. Is this normal? Has anyone experience this? What could be wrong?
Answered by Nathan S. — May 09, 2013 9:22 AM
Hi, It takes time for the computer in the car to adapt to new accessories (Adaptive Strategy) so it might feel a little sluggish off the line for a few weeks but it will improve. Aftermarket intakes eliminate the restrictive sound dampening baffles on your stock intake. This results in additional intake noise, a deeper engine tone (vibrating, or whoosing noise) at part throttle and is completely normal.

1 Answer
Hi, I installed the K&N 69 Series Typhoon Intake System on my 2013 Ford Focus roughly a week ago and experienced no issues until last night after dinner when I returned to my car with that delightful Check Engine Light on (700 miles on the car)...is it possible that improper installation of the intake has caused this? I have not noticed any abnormal driving experiences but I have noticed that my fuel mileage has not been the greatest. Is it possible that there is a leak (pulled code at Autozone. Error code P0456 indicates 4 different issues: loose fuel cap (car has no cap); EVAP canister broke, hose cracked, or not connected; Purge or vent solenoid defective; and the last and seeming to be most likely cause, Vacuum leak at engine. I do work at a Ford dealership but I was unable to get a mechanic to take a look at it today. I am extremely worried about it doing serious damage to my engine. Could this potentially cause a long term issue and also void the warranty to whatever it may damage? Thanks
Answered by Nathan S. — Mar 19, 2013 8:10 AM
Hi, Double check your hose connections into the intake for tightness, cracks, holes, etc. Most intake installs gone awry throw a check engine light immediately on start up and not several weeks later, but something could have came loose. A vacuum leak occurs behind the throttle butterfly of the throttlebody, so that's highly doubtful as you would probably also have engine misfire codes. Anything before the throttlebody would be considered an air leak.

I installed a different brand of cold air intake before and the air-fuel ratio got messed up. My car started dying at stops and idling weird. If I purchased this product and that started happening to my car again could I get help with how to fix the issue?? Thank you. Have a fantastic day!
Answered by Nathan S. — Feb 15, 2013 12:09 PM
Hi, The usual cause of stalling after installing a cold air intake is an improperly seated silicone boot causing an air leak. Our kits work great right out of the box, but our customer service department is also standing by just in case you need help.

Is this CA legal? It says not CARB exempt. The double negative can ve read tow ways. Is it street legal in Ca or not?
Answered by Nathan S. — Feb 11, 2013 11:50 AM
Hi, Any part that is not CARB certified cannot be used on public roads in California and other states that have adopted CARB standards. A CARB certified accessory will have an executive order (E.O) number assigned to it and will have either a stick or a metal tag with the number on it for the smog technician to see. No CARB EO number on an aftermarket part = failed smog test.

Is it legal for me to install this on my 2013 Ford Focus in the State of Pennsylvania? If not, how likely is it that a dealership would not inspect it?
Answered by Nathan S. — Jan 21, 2013 1:34 PM
Hi, You would need an intake that is approved by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Your dealership can't void your warranty for installing aftermarket parts thanks to the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act. And, your car will swiftly fail a smog check without a CARB executive order number for the part in plain view. The numbers are usually supplied in sticker form with parts that are CARB certified.

My cobalt is either a 2.2 or 2.4L. It is a sport sedan so I assume it is the 2.4L. With this air intake will I need to have my car tuned or will the computer automatically change for the added increase or air flow? If it needs to be tuned is there a decent tuner that will work for that issue? Thank you!

Intakes are specific to the vehicle and engine. Even though the make, model, and years are the same on both vehicles, the engines will have variations that will make the intakes different. K&N does not appear to offer an intake for the SR at this time.
