"HAPPY FATHER'S DAY...
I just got my truck back from the paint booth just in time for Father's Day. Truck looked so good that I had to do a little to add performance and gas mileage. I have a 1990 Ford F150 with a 5.8L or 351W for you older guys. Anyone that has a truck like this knows that the gas mileage is bad. I averaged 8 to 9 miles per gallon before K&N was installed. I must note that I also installed a Trans Dapt throttle body spacer along with the K&N Cold Air Intake system. Oh and a cat back exhaust with Flowmaster muffler from Midas. I just topped off the truck again about 30 mins ago. The truck took 5.309 gallons and I drove 75 miles since last fill up. If you do the math, I got 14.13 MPG. That is a jump of 6 MPG increase. I think that I could get 16 MPG if I stop playing around with the truck and flooring it. I would like to mention that of the 75 miles that I drove, 25 miles of it was stock. Meaning the Cold Intake, Throttle body spacer and exhaust enhancement was not installed yet. I definetly recommend this, but would also install a throttle body spacer with it. The HP you can feel when stepping on the gas. I recommend the Trans Dapt throttle body spacer cause you don't get that whurling hissing sound like the others. It will hiss a little at low RPMs, but not all the time."

"After 300 miles of normal driving with some towing I think the performance is noticable. However, I also added a CAT-BACK system to maximize the benefits.
It would help if the pictures were bigger and the instructions a bit more detailed but overall not a hard replacement. K&N does assume you have the tools needed including allen wrenches.
The hardest part is putting on the rubber molding used to seal the bottom of the air box."

"The K&N cold air filter was very easy to install, 2 hours max. 1 mpg gain thus far. Magna Flow's sound a bit louder as well."

"Positive - Well it does exactly what it's suppose to do, it supplies a high volume of air to the engine. Plus it sounds mean and looks great. I have FlowMaster duals running out and sometimes I can hear the intake over the duals so that's realy cool.
Negitive - The type of polymer tubing used conducts heat to poorly. After coming home from work one day, driving 11 miles, I checked out the intake and it was as hot as touching the top of the engine, not good. And the inclosure for the filter doesn't seal it, it just acts as a deflector from the heat, so really this is not a cold air intake but it serves it's purpose."

"The product is excellent. The only negative thing I have to say is the installation was more difficult than the directions suggested."

"The sound that this intake makes when you get on the throttle is awesome! I also like how quiet it is at idle or normal driving, not even a hint at the power underneath. I haven't had it on long enough to notice an increase in gas mileage. I'll take K&N's word for it that it produces an extra 15 horsepower. Don't waste a HEMI without one!"

"I bought and installed the K&N 57-2556 on my 2005 Ford F-150 5.4L supercrew. Installation was more in-depth than any other intake I've installed but still was not hard, just more work. It took a little over an hour. Almost 2x longer than most and I've install around 10 intakes on mine or friends and familie's vehicles. I've notice slightly better mileage, highway driving mileage is the most noticable. The lighter you are on the petal means the better mileage you are going to get. The engine is defintely louder, which is something I didn't want to do. The engine is louder but sounds good. But its only noticeable at higher RPM or when I stomp on it."

"Installed this into a Kia Spectra 5... the instructions were very good, and somewhat easy. Instantly noticed additional torque and horsepower and had too much fun pushing the limits on this car after I installed that I didn't see any improvements in gas mileage. Now that I'm over the fact that I can floor it and drive more sensible I have noticed a slight improvement in mileage, not much but some is better than none."
