"In the past I've installed a different series K&N (Gen II) on a 2002 Tundra 4.7L with no problems...however this 63 series for my 2005 Tundra 4.7L was not that smooth e.g. I had to enlarge the retangular mass flow sensor cutout in the intake tube due to the screw holes not lining up properly with the molded-in mounts. I shouldn't have had to do this with K&N's quality reputation, but I wasn't going to send it back from Alaska either. Secondly, the installation instructions, specifically the photos showing the heat shield setup, are shot from angles that lend to confusion and delays. BOTTOMLINE: Overall performance gains are as advertised, but the kit need some "fine tuning" as aforementioned!"

"Cumbersome install. Package listed unit for 2003, I have 2006. Had to modify hose coming off turbocharger. Very tight clearance on underside of hose from turbocharger to air box. Don't notice hp difference to rear tires.Have not checked fuel mileage since installing."

"Shipped fast, I got the intake kit in three days. The installation was very easy, got it done in under one hour and I took my time. Noticed a difference right away: improved acceleration, more responsive, increase in fuel economy by 1 MPG. Definitely worth it."

"This is my 2nd FIPK system from K&N. Once installed, you can tell right away that it's there. Engine sound is amazing and my vehicle definetly has better pick up. The 1st FIPK I purchased was for my 2000 Grand Cherokee v8 and that was awsome so I'm sold for life! Easy install and the fit and finish is 2nd to none."

"Will increase throttle response (40%) and speed. Will make truck louder.. The filter runs about $60 by it's self so you pay $190 for a plastic pipe and bent metal with weather striping. Would by the metal pipe next time, it's only a few bucks more."

A bigger nose for breathing

"6.0 diesel engine. Montana area, high altitude. Helping an engine breath better has always made good sense to me. Because I am cruising at highway speeds or below with some running down gravel county roads and a small amount of off road traversing, I haven't the engine wound out so I won't see the full horsepower gain this unit will provide, rather I am seeking an engine running easier. At $2.70 fuel, any fuel savings gain, no matter how small, will be helpful. I believe K&N has the engineering built in to accomplish that."

"Exactly what I was looking for from a CAI. Researched many different types, and it came down to the K&N or Airraid. More people chose K&N over Airraid, and now I think I know why. The Airriad uses the factory airbox and snorkel in my 05 Dakota, where the K&N requires yanking the hwole thing out before installing the intake. You can hear the massive air flow being sucked in, and you can really hear the output through my Flowmaster 40!! What a massive differene, HIGHLY recommended. Faster throttle response, quicker acceleration."
