"The Cold Air intake complimented the 4inch exhaust I had installed a few weeks earlier. It took about 2 hours to install, hadn't counted on the special tool I need, it was made of hard plastic, but seems to work well.I recommend it for the price, nice increase in power."

S&B cold air intake evaluation-2005 Super Duty
Posted on 06/28/2007 by James S. - 2005 Ford F250 (Amarillo,TX)
3 of 3 people found the following review helpful.
"2005 Superduty 6.0 diesel. Install would have been faster if maker had cut slots for original plastic intake in correct spot. Had to cut slots wider with Dremel tool. After that fit was ok. Around town and at idle noticed more noise (naturally)and performance and mileage about the same. After pulling trailer to Colorado, unit seemed to perform well, no increase in mileage, but off idle turbo boost seemed to be slightly more responsive. Very loud and bad noise when let off on it on slight grade with maybe 4lbs boost at maybe 25 to 40 mph. Sound like back pressure from turbo and very loud. Loud enough for concern. Had my oem unit with me and pulled the S&B unit off and put it back in the box. Noise went away. All areas were sealed good when this noise was evident. The noise I mentioned sounds like someone trying to tear the firewall out with a backhoe and I am not kidding. I liked the design of the system, but am not impressed at all with the performance. I had done lot of research on S&B before purchase. They have a good article this month in Trailer Life but I am not impressed after using this system and I waited for about 2 mos before sending this reply because I wanted to give it a good chance. If someone from S&B would like to reply to this report I would like to hear from them, but until then I will continue to run the Original system and the money spent for this system was wasted as far as I am concerned. JS"

"First off I bought this intake because it had the filter enclosed in its own box seperate from the elements. I take my truck 4wheeling on a regular basis and am constantly getting water sprayed on the air box by the fan and belt. Having the filter in that box keeps it dry, unless I go somewhere I shouldn't be in the first place. Installation of this cold air intake kit because of this box is not a simple bolt on thing. Had serious clearance issues with the A/C line, to the point that I was scared I was going to break the line if I had to bend it any further, that passes in front of the stock air box. Now that its on I don't have any complaints at all have been out in the mud since installing it and the filter didn't get a drop on it, but if I didn't go 4wheeling or if the truck was a 2wd, I would probably get a K&N or Airaid for a better fit."

"I like the intake. Installation was easy and the included color photo instructions made it EXTREMELY easy and no chance to mess your install up. The sound is good. This is a good alternative to other CAI intakes. I believe most will have results so close that appearance may be the best choice. This looks well engineered, fits well and doesn't look like a chrome p-trap modified to fit your vehicle."

"Increases air volume but the air box is not a good fit for a Mustang GT. It does not sit well on the stock grommets as designed. This unit does not provide enough engine heat separation; it is open to pull air in the front of the air box, but also wide open on the opposite site (where the exhaust manifolds / headers are). For the money, go with K&N."

Great Item with One Small Setback
Posted on 05/22/2007 by Jay C. - 2007 Chevy Silverado (Hammonton,NJ)
3 of 3 people found the following review helpful.
"Install went great, and product performance far exceeds what I had expected. The only thing I would like to suggest improving is that on my 2007 Silverado Classic you must remove a retaining clip off the original intake which supports the upper radiator hose. On the S&B Intake there is no fastening point to reattach the clip. The hose currently is just resting loose on the intake tube. Besides that the item is an A+ in my book. Thanks!"

"The CAI kit was missing some hardware and needed a modification to install properly. Seems S & B is not interested in quality control. When installed, the results are great. The improvement in throttle response was significant and immediate. I seem to be getting about 0.5MPG better mileage also."

"One will definitely get their money's worth with this intake system. I imediately felt a diference in torque and acceleration. Installation took a little over an hour, but it depends on experience. I personally took my time. I like how you can hear the air flowing through the filter. Best of all it's 50 state smog legal and my vehicle didn't require a reflash with this intake system. Overall worth the price."

"I bought the air filter at first because I had heard some good things about it. I installed ion my dodge cummins, the install took only 34 min. to do. It has improve the fuel mileage by 2-4 miles per gallons depending on my payload in the truck I haven't check the filters filtration yet though it says it's at 99.90%. It's not the sleekest looking air intake kit but it does it job."
