Description

Airflow is power! And, that's why Banks created the Ram-Air Intake System—to ram power-producing air right down your engines throat. By lifting the restrictions that leave your rig gasping for air, Banks primes it for increased power, torque and fuel mileage.

The system's monstrous inlet, titanic tubing and enclosed filter radically cool and boost the airflow headed to your engine. This cooler denser air makes for more efficient combustion—and ultimately more power.

Topping the system off is Banks' high-flow cone filter. 8-plys of premium cotton-gauze trap engine-killing debris while the fresh air continues its path to power. Reusable for life, simply clean the filter and reinstall for thousands of trouble-free miles.

The Banks system easily installs right in your driveway. And, it works with stock sensors so there are no pesky engine lights in your future. Best yet, your Banks Ram-Air System is backed by a 5-year warranty, and the filter's backed for life.

"Was received in a timely manner, was easy to install and had no difficultly with the box and tube, the scoop was a different matter, Banks needs to send a tool to remove the push-pull pins that hold the fender well liner on, just about ruined them. Great air flow and low noise, will know more when I hook up the fifth-wheel and hit the highway."

"I thought this product was overall a very good choice for my 2004 Chevy Duramax. It did drop my exhaust temps and that was the main reason i bought it however it did not drop them as much as i thought it would. It makes my turbo sound just a tiny bit louder but that is fine with me and it went well with my banks exhaust."

"Very satisfied with the quality of the parts. Installation was easy although I had to bend a condenser line down about 1/4 inch. No biggie. On my first trip to town (70 mile round trip) I gained 1.5 mpg. Yes, it's pricey but won't take long to make it up in mpg!"

"Pros: Install was quick and easy. Air flow is much improved and increased power. Cons: Have not seen any fuel milage increase. Mounting mass air flow sensor to intake cover could be better. Gasket for sensor has to mount on a tapered tube coming out of the intake cover. As you tighten the hose clamp it wants to slide off."

"Intalling the Banks Ram-Air was rather straight forward, even for someone like me who only works the truck when I have to. I can really tell feel the engine breathing better, even the throttle response is much faster. When the engine can get to the desired RPM much faster than before. A deeper sounding engine when on the throttle harder, but no difference under normal driving. Case and Point: I asked my wife what she thought after a few days; she said "I don't notice any difference." Perfect, cause she drives it "normally". I didn't want to change the way it drove for daily driving."

"This ram air intake seems to be well made. As far as performance, I've only driven about 100 miles since I installed the unit so I'm not sure of any improvements. Installation was a breeze. It took less that 45 minutes. I read the instructions first and they made it seem harder than the actual install. Good product, would recommend it to friends."

"It doesn't feel like I have more power, but it does seem to come on smoother and there are no dead spots in the throttle. I'm not seeing any mpg improvement but my regular commute is in LA traffic either under 30mph or over 70mph, not exactly the gas mileage sweet spot on this truck. The stock intake tube has two HUGE sound-reduction chambers, so I do not doubt manufacturer claims that it flows much more air than stock. Unfortunately most of my driving conditions don't take advantage of that. I imagine much greater gains are possible when compounded with a programmer and/or exhaust upgrades. Installation instructions were clear, easy to follow, and the product fit and finish is better than stock. No complaints."

"I was disappointed with the Banks Ram Air Intake. I would rather have seen stainless steel hardware instead of the cheap hardware included. The airbox doesn't have a flange on it like the factory airbox so it does not seal to the inner fender properly. I also purchased the snorkel kit that attaches to the front air dam which is just held on with push-on fasteners rather than bolts. Maybe I expect too much, but I believe I paid enough to expect the higher end fasteners. This may make me think harder about buying additional Banks products."

"I have always been pleased with the quality and design of Banks products. This CAF with the power scoop is no exception. The directions were excellent. It took about 2 1/2 hours to install including the scoop. No alterations were needed. The truck is a lot more fun to drive now. There's more power all along the power curve. I wish that it made the engine louder on acceleration but I can't tell much difference. I can hear the turbo spooling up now when I couldn't before. I think per the truck's computer that the fuel mileage has gone up from 14 to 16.1 mpgs, but it's early to tell. To be honest I can't keep my foot off the accelerator. I ordered a Volant at first because of the price (from another company), but when it came there was only one sheet of directions and no air scoop as promised and it looked cheap. I sent it back. I also have a Banks DPF- back exhaust which looks great and works well with the CAF system. The coolest thing is seeing that air scoop peeking out from below the front bumper. Drive on!"

"All in all a pretty good buy. The paper filters for my truck are about $27.00 a piece, so just having the K&N filter pays for the whole kit by itself. The only complaints I have are that the housing didnt fit perfectly without a little help from the utility knife so that the tabs to lock the whole houseing down would slide in place. Also the kit didnt come with the BANKS stickers shown in the directions. I have noticed better mileage and quicker throttle response. Have not pulled with it yet so well see how it affects that too."

"The filter box did not sit flush to the wheel well opening. Banks tech support said that it does not make a foam rubber seal. Problem is that box hits passenger side headlight adjuster. Tech support also said intake air temperature only two degrees more when used as is. Otherwise ok, will keep and may make personal mods to get the fit."

"The Ram - Air intake installation was very easy. I have moderate mechanic skills, and it went well. The only caution I would give folks is when you remove your old one, on 06 Dodge 5.9 Cummins, be careful you don't break the mounting tabs that are attached to the battery box. The instructions said give a firm pull, which is true, but if you are not careful you will break the tab closest to the engine. I did this. The until still installed ok, but I would have preferred not to do that."
