Banks Ram-Air Intake - CAUTION - Installation

"The Ram - Air intake installation was very easy. I have moderate mechanic skills, and it went well. The only caution I would give folks is when you remove your old one, on 06 Dodge 5.9 Cummins, be careful you don't break the mounting tabs that are attached to the battery box. The instructions said give a firm pull, which is true, but if you are not careful you will break the tab closest to the engine. I did this. The until still installed ok, but I would have preferred not to do that."

"Overall easy to install, only got the air intake for now, going to buy ram air scoop next, very nice quality for the price. I have to say for all the diesel owners out there, I don't think Chevrolet wants anyone to get better gas mileage at all with the new DPF and new emissions standards. I have tried this intake and the monster exhaust from Banks and I haven't noticed too much increase in fuel economy at all and I drive like a Grandpa. With the exhaust I didn't notice any increase in fuel mileage, and I saw only about 1 mpg with the air intake with the Banks Monster Exhaust. The air intake add on, you can hear the turbo spin up now and the check engine doesn't come on with this product. Much better throttle response with the air intake, not too much throttle increase with only the exhaust. I have a 2007.5 Chevrolet 2500HD Duramax with the LMM engine."

"After the installation on my 2007 F150 5.4l 3V FX4, along with a BBK 80mm throttle body, I have noticed an increase in the horsepower, BUT!!! I have also noticed an enormous amount of roar from the intake and the exhaust. AT full throttle it takes the radio on 15 volumn in override the noise. Anyone with any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I like the power, but hate the roar."

"I have enjoyed my Banks Cold Air Kit in my Dually. This kit does not void the factory warranty. I have made a few 100+ mile trips since the recent install and according to my onboard computer, I’m showing an improvement in highway fuel mileage of about .7 MPG. City driving I think may have dropped slightly, due to that fact that I really enjoy hearing the Turbo spooling up (I can hear it now) and I find it hard to keep my foot off of the right pedal. Overall I would recommend this product to friends and I am very satisfied with AutoAnything.com."

"I purchased this intake for my 2004.5 cummins 2500. I previously had the AEM Brute Force intake. With the Banks system the filter is much bigger, stays cleaner longer, and the air inlet temp is about 40 degrees cooler than the AEM. Overall the product is a little pricy, but i can tell a huge diference from stock and the AEM. Installation is a breeze and it looks great and sounds even better!"

"I am really enjoying my new Banks Ram-Air, especially now that I have installed the Banks Monster Exhaust, as well.
It's not loud at all, unless you stomp the skinny pedal to the floor.
The intake box is sealed to keep the heat out, but has a huge pipe that drops down between the front fender liner and the bumper to suck air straight from the street.
The filter is massive and of a pleated cotton gauze high surface area design with a light coating of oil to help grab the finer dust particles.
The intake tube is smooth and eliminates the stock silencers, which does make the intake louder than stock. However, it's not obnoxious and is only noticeable if the throttle is more than half open.
I highly recommend this product."

"IMO the Banks products are top notch, since they not only design the products but also do extensive performance testing both in the development lab and on the vehicles they're designed for. The overall quality of this CAI was very nice and appears to be built better than the stock pieces I removed. The CAI was easy to install and the directions were clear. The total installation took me about an hour. The lifetime air filter in this kit is huge and should flow way better than the stock filter I removed. Hearing the engine breath during acceleration is very pleasing as well. I've also just ordered the Banks Monster cat back Exhaust kit to compliment the CAI I installed, since how well your engine breaths in is directly proportional to how well it can exhale :-)."

"I installed this intake on my 2003 Ford F-250 and my MPG went from 15.9 to 20.6 on combuined highway and city driving. I would not buy any other intake except for this one. Price is more than others but it shows that you get the quality when you pay a little more. I am going to stick with Banks products for my truck."

"I have Bank's Ram Air System installed in my Lariat, with an Edge programmer and an SS409 custom ehxaust from Lou's. I was very happy with the overall look. Installation was less then an hour if you have all the tools laid out before hand. I would have like to have seen the Bank's labels on the intake be white like the pictures show, but they are black and tough to see. Other then that, I am very happy with it. I noticed about a 1 mpg increase in gas mileage and just pulled a trailer with four snowmobiles on it and one in the bed up to northern N.H. and saw a stead 14.5 mpg, which is pretty good considering there were five guys in the truck too! Pretty happy with all the purchases I've made at autoanything."

"I purchased this product for my 04 cummins ho auto and was very pleased with the much louder turbo whistle and sucking noise from the filter. Also I noticed my tranny doesn't have to downshift nearly as often when going up inclines. My fuel mileage did not improve in town, but did go up 3-4 mpg on the highway. Install was brutal, but I would purchase again."

"After reading several reviews, I made the investment. I didn't expect allot since I was installing it on my stock 4.0L with 225k mi. I was pleasantly surprised to find how much it perked the ol gal up. It's not so much of a 'throw you back in the seat' power burst, but it responds to the throttle much quicker and has room to breath. Highway speed hill climbing was my real test, and so far, I haven't had to shift down from fifth gear.
Thanks Banks!"

"I installed the Banks Ram-Air intake about two weeks ago and haven't regretted it once. The mid range power gains were far beyond what I was expecting and less turbo lag at the start! It does a great job at filling the gaps left in the power band by a programmer (SCT 6.4L Livewire Extreme installed 3 months before intake). Install was easy and only took about 40 minutes. Bolt on MPG increase of about 1.3-1.8! Only complaint is that they haven't engineered the cold air scoop for my application."

"I paid about $400 for the Banks Ram-Air intake for my 2005 F-250, If you consider the factory air filter canister is about $70 a pop this thing pays for itself in about 6 filter changes. Install was only slightly more involved than replacing factory filter. The new intake was only on for a day before I installed a power module so I cannot comment on any MPG increase. I didn't notice any change in sound. The power increase was very slightly noticeable. I feel the design and quality of this product is far supperior to the factory unit and worth the up front investment. I have been driving my truck for about two and a half months with the Banks intake and am very happy with it."
