After a matter of weeks running with the new intake, there's a pretty nice and distinct difference in the feel of my truck. The system itself looks great once installed, and the sound is pretty awesome. My one and only complaint is with Volant's pre-drilled holes in the heat shield box.. All three of them were over a half inch off in spacing - as is, it's an easy fix, but certainly a mild inconvenience. Drilling your own holes with Volant boxes seems to be pretty standard across the board since I've heard this complaint from several others, one of which was actually a coworker of mine.

Vague Instructions

Installed it with some help yesterday, the instructions were pretty poorly written. Had to remove and re-install filter box as the trim rubber gasket used on the Volant Box wasn't mentioned in the step-by-step instructions. Wish I would have paid more attention to the other reviews on file. I noticed on several reviews people mentioned that the mounting holes on the actual filter box were not in the right locations. I saw those, but figured that Volant would have reconfigured the set-up but they hadn't. Beyond the above, would I still buy this same system, very doubtful... Took the truck out for test run once we finished installing the system, I don't know about the gas mileage improvment as I just installed it yesterday, but I can say, I saw or rather I felt everyone of the 22 horses they say it added. Stepped on the gas hard, and was instantly rocketing down the highway. As far as AUTO Anything, will definitely buy from them again. Awesome prices, customer service and ease of overall purchase of this system was outstanding.

More MPG's *AND* more power

Just bought 2004 F150 extended cab Lariat w/5.4L - was averaging 16 taking 18mile drive to work (mixed stop-go with Interstate driving) Added This CAI (w/Volant premium filter) and a throttle body spacer at same time and now average 17.6mpg on the same route. Drove 50 minutes with mixed 55mph highway and 2 cities (i drove 63mph on highway and 33 in cities) and averaged 20.2MPG!!! seems that the highway miles are the sweet spot. also drove 135miles with previous route + interstate driving for another 90miles and averaged 17.8mpg for the whole trip. All this with regular unleaded petrol.

Decent

The volant system for my 2007 Ford F150 Lariat has been a great product. The installation was a little difficult. It definitely was not a drop and bolt system. I had to do a little fighting with the box and throttle body sleeve. Overall I believe this is a great product, especially compared to K&N. Product rating of 90%.

Upon arrival I installed the Air intake. The instructions were easy to follow. I had a friend read off the steps to insure that everything was done correctly. After installation I test drove the truck. There was a small improvement in throttle response. The air intake is only loud when accelerating quickly. I have also had an increase in gas mileage. My gas mileage went from 14.5 to about 15.5. It's not a great increase but it's something.
