To start off, the two hardest parts on installing the FIPK is getting the rubber surround on the heat shield and (specifically on my car) getting the connector hose on the intake tube that connects to the turbo. Other than these two minor issues it was easy!!! I noticed an instant throttle response after installation. K & N states about a 13 horsepower gain (on the mid level turbo engine). I am convinced it is more like 15-20 on the high output turbo (which Chrysler rates at 230 hp). After driving around for about two weeks I noticed aliitle more than normal turbo lag. So, I instllaed a flowmaster muffler to open up the exhaust (model#942451). This is a fifty series delta flow with hardly any interior noise and good rumble outside. This immediately felt like another 15-20 hp. Please note: Flowmaster sells this and promotes this model for the PT Cruiser, but the outlet is centered..IT NEEDS TO BE OFFSET!!!! My muffler shop worked around this issue and was even able to use my factory tip. It turned out awesome!! I did not notice any increase in gas mileage until the muffler was installed. It ranges from .85-1.5 miles per gallon.
