Volant HV Cold Air Intake Replacement Filters with Donaldson PowerCore® Filtration Technology Reviews

Volant Air Filter with PowerCore Filtration

Reviewed By Charles L (Weehawken, NJ) Reviewed for a 1999 BMW 5-Series —7/10/2012 11:56 PM

The first one I used only lasted 30,000 miles before it was noticeably dirty throughout the inside of the flutes, but that's probably because of the polluted city environment my car was driven in. The Volant air filter did a great job in keeping the throttle body clean, better than the K&N reusable filter it replaced in the cold air intake system. When the Volant is new, it may provide a slight throttle-response and gas mileage advantage over other types of filters common to cold air intake systems, but when it starts to clog there'll be a noticeable drop in gas mileage and throttle response. When I replaced my dirty Volant with a clean one, the improvement in throttle response was instantaneous. This is an excellent air filter to use if you don't mind spending the money to replace it every 30,000 to 40,000 miles.

Oiled Filters Suck

Reviewed By John J (Richland, WA) Reviewed for a 1990 BMW 3-Series —11/23/2011 9:10 PM

I had an oiled filter, won't name brand and it ended up coating my MAF with oil and it did not work. My engine ran rough. I cleaned the MAF and installed an AEM filter and it runs terrific. This is a great product, I even bought another one for my Roushcharged Mustang CAI, it came with an oiled air filter too.

High quality filter

Reviewed By Stephan V (Lawrenceville, GA) Reviewed for a 2000 BMW Z3 —7/1/2010 7:23 AM

It certainly looks like an H&K look-alike. It is a replacement for my worn out filter that I had for over 40,000 miles. The shape is slightly different, the top is wider by a small amount. The fit is exact and it comes with a stainless steel strap. Performs the same as my old one that I had cleaned several times before I decided to replace it.
