Installing the K&N kit.

I have used the K&N intakes for quite a while on my vehicles. This kit was the hardest to date to install. I stayed with it though and I have to say that with the enclosed box for the filter that came with this system made it look like a factory installation. I have not had enough time to test the power difference but I can say it has helped with the MPG. I am getting between 19.5 and 20 miles a gallon on a full size Tahoe. I think I can get a little better when I get use to the vehicle.

Easy place to start improving performance

works well. Definitly notice a change in acceleration and throttle response. The Tahoe has a nice engine but the stock intake system is a giant piece of plastic junk. the only flaw in the K&N intake is the plastic nipple for the crankcase breather tube. The chrome on the intake tube was done after the threads were cut in the intake pipe so the threads needed some cleaning with a tap before I cut thread the nipple in. Otherwise very easy install

I ordered and received the airaid jr kit in a very timely manner. I had purchased K&N products for several past vehicles but was tired of spending over $300.00 for a system. I decided to try the airaid jr system. It was less that 1/2 the cost. The quality is as good or better than the K&N. It took about 10-15 minutes to install. The first difference I notice is the air tube ending is pointed toward the front grill completely out of the way of engine heat vs the box by K&N. Total cool air coming in away from the engine. I drove to Chaleston SC about 50 miles from home in city and open road driving. I was shocked to see a 2 MPG difference immediately while I had my foot in it to see what type of performance difference Ii felt. I noticed improved engine function and not as loud as the K&N. It seemed the engine ran smoother with increased torque and HP gains. I would like for them to have given a ball park dyno test to tell exact torque and hp gains on an average. Bang for the buck, I think they have a winner. Eventually I will have to change to the cold air total system from them just to satisfy currosity
