Works great on PT Cruiser Limited Turbo 2006

Reviewed By Michael T (Lansdowne, PA) Reviewed for a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser —4/30/2013 10:02 AM

Bought this one as replacement for my factory Air Filter box that has hole due the abrasion with Positive battery clamp. Cheaper than buy the original MOPAR part. Installation required extra effort due the cramped space in the engine area, maybe just me who have no experience with car engine. And it took me an hour or so. Once installed, it give different sound to the engine, but not that obvious and I like it. I can't say anything about Horse power and MPG, but I feel the car more responsive.

Installation and test of the K & N FIPK on a 2006 PT Cruiser GT

Reviewed By Thomas D (Milton, FL) Reviewed for a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser —8/7/2011 8:12 AM

To start off, the two hardest parts on installing the FIPK is getting the rubber surround on the heat shield and (specifically on my car) getting the connector hose on the intake tube that connects to the turbo. Other than these two minor issues it was easy!!! I noticed an instant throttle response after installation. K & N states about a 13 horsepower gain (on the mid level turbo engine). I am convinced it is more like 15-20 on the high output turbo (which Chrysler rates at 230 hp). After driving around for about two weeks I noticed aliitle more than normal turbo lag. So, I instllaed a flowmaster muffler to open up the exhaust (model#942451). This is a fifty series delta flow with hardly any interior noise and good rumble outside. This immediately felt like another 15-20 hp. Please note: Flowmaster sells this and promotes this model for the PT Cruiser, but the outlet is centered..IT NEEDS TO BE OFFSET!!!! My muffler shop worked around this issue and was even able to use my factory tip. It turned out awesome!! I did not notice any increase in gas mileage until the muffler was installed. It ranges from .85-1.5 miles per gallon.

Air Raid performance

Reviewed By sterling j (San Dimas, CA) Reviewed for a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser —2/23/2011 9:40 PM

The air was fairly easy to install, but it noisey and for the amount performance you gain. You lose mpgs and pt cruisers do not get very good mpgs for the size of the car.But if you are going ona very long trip with no hills you will make it back and then some. Face it the pt without turbo is just too under powered.
