K&N 57 Series FIPK Air Intake (50-State Legal) Reviews

Reviewed By James L (Artemas, PA) Reviewed for a 2001 Dodge Durango —5/12/2016 12:22 PM

Just installed the Kn filter set up. It seems that the acceleration has improved slightly. The noise sounds similar to the old four barrels kicking in. It definitely resonates into the cabin. My truck has a magnaflow muffler so it's a little loud but nice. The instructions were pretty clear and installation took a little over an hour. The system mounts solidly. I would've preferred metric bolts for installation just so everything is uniform. I would rate it 4 stars across the board.

Secrets in the trade

Reviewed By Frank M (El Paso, TX) Reviewed for a 2001 Dodge Durango —12/12/2011 10:38 PM

Well I have a 2001 Durango w/ over 168K miles. I was pricing cold air intakes and found this aFe brand at AutoAnything was the cheapest and had the biggest power gains. It was easy very to IM customer service when I had questions. Ordering the item was easy and easily to track down the status. I liked the quality of parts and pictures on instructions but one "secret" that SHOULD BE A NOTE in the installation is to keep the same mounting position of the hood hinge when you use the transmission computer bracket. I just started to be a DIYer on my truck and didn't think about the position of the bolts for the hood but finally figured it out. Looked in the instructions and nothing. So had I known about that one thing it would have been installed within an hour. I drove the truck once complete and instantly noticed a difference in get up and how my RPM's are lower than normal. I aslo figured a slight increase in MPG. Lastly I told everyone about it the next day at work and said it's worth the money and effort to purchase a cold air intake!

Not bad, not worth $200 though

Reviewed By MARK M (Mount Pleasant, SC) Reviewed for a 2001 Dodge Durango —11/30/2010 2:16 AM

Installed on my 2001 Durango, 4.7 v8. Istallation was easy however instructions were wrong. Sounds great, really does but not much performance change. Noticed a very slight gain in MPG on last road trip. Price is way too much just to make youe engine sound better, my opinion anyways. If you're thinking about purchasing the TBS also, don't! Haven't noticed any change with that except for the most annoying high pitched whistle
