1999 Ford Explorer Limited SOHC 4.0 V6

Reviewed By Adrian H (Chandler, AZ) Reviewed for a 1999 Ford Explorer —4/22/2012 8:13 AM

The install was very simple. It didn't look as clean as I would have liked with the number of hose clamps. Also the molding around the heat shield needed to be trimmed by about an inch for it to fit properly. Initially none of the tubes or hoses matched up perfectly but once tightened and driven a bit the engine heat set everything up and it is rock solid. I retightened all of the clamps and bolts about two weeks after the install and they have stayed tight ever since. As for performance. The engine definitely roars when you put your foot into it, and that's out of a little V6. Gas mileage went from 16-18MPG in the city, and from 22-26 on the highway. You also get a noticeable increase in acceleration and response. AutoAnything was great. Shipping was ridiculously fast. I had it the next day. Didn't even have time to hide it from the wife!

Easy installation and very quiet

Reviewed By Noel R (Sugar Run, PA) Reviewed for a 2015 Ford Explorer —12/26/2015 6:41 AM

I have never installed an easiest Cold air intake in my life. Instructions are very clear and step by step pictures on how to pre assemble before the final installation are awesome. Keep in mind this CAI does not totally eliminates the OEM air box only the air box lid and intake tube are replaced by this kit there fore this kit is very quiet under all accelerations scenarios. You will notice low end power the most along with some MPG improvement. get the diablo sport tune if you want MPG improve

Low end boost

Reviewed By Billy B (Englewood, CO) Reviewed for a 2003 Ford Explorer —3/29/2006 6:13 AM

The Brute Force really seemed to give my Explorer Sport some much needed low end power. I think I might have even heard a tire squeal!
