K&N FIPK Air Intake

On the average, it was pretty easy to install. I had to adapt the manifold hose grommet. I don't know if it was my imagination or not, but the truck did seem to have more pickup. The real test will be when I pull the boat for the first time. I am trying to eke out a little more power from the small 6 cylinder engine.

01 ford sport trac 4.0L - pretty good

not too hard to install, instructions could be a LITTLE more detailed but no serious issues. noticed a slight increase in power and mpg but ive only ran 2-3 tanks. sounds nice under the hood when revved above 2500 rpm but at around 2000 rpm there is a very high pitch whistle...and no its NOT a leak, everything is tight as it can go. i'm thinking it's either the throttle body or some other part but i'm not sure. anyway, good little boost for a not-too-expensive add-on.

Volant Cold Air Intakes Reviews

More Power

Reviewed By Michael W (Meridian, ID) Reviewed for a 2001 Ford Explorer —4/11/2006 9:09 AM

More power, incredible acceleration and a definite "tiger in the tank" feeling. Adds a nice sound to the truck too. It's worth every penny. The instructions were virtually non-existent. A schematic does not equal instructions. It's easy enough to figure out - but that's no excuse. Volant should include installation instructions. Early reports also suggest a possible increase in gas mileage, but it's too early to say for certain.
