Easy to install
I installed a K&N 69 Series typhoon intake system on my 2003 Mazda Protege5 and it was very straight forward and easy. It took me about 1 hour taking it easy and carefully. All hardware was above expectations and fit perfectly. The only minus I can give it is that I did not install the down leg because of concerns with ingesting water. The factory recommends this installation for areas where a lot of rain and puddles are possible. Being here in Florida that is a fact of every day life. When I installed the system in this configuration, the end of the tube where the filter is installed is a little flimsy and I am concerned that typical vibrations might put excessive loads on the bracket that holds the mass flow sensor. I plan to provide a bracket to solve this issue.
Love that intake sound, and can hear the blow-off valve more clearly. Installation was a little tricky due to the turbocharger-- had to get under car to tighten clamps, and pipe runs close to cooling fan. Definitely noticed more power and possibly better fuel economy (too soon to tell). Overall a good value for the price. And it looks hot in red! Real shiny. And there's more open space under the hood.
