I have had the Brute Force Intake installed in my Chevy Avalanche for about two weeks now. I haven't driven it a whole lot but I do see my milage getting better slowly. The apperance is great and it actually makes my truck sound like a true V-8. Overall I think it was a great purchase.

Ca legal?

Is this a legal?

Staff Answer

Hi Tim, depending on your vehicle, these intakes are either C.A.R.B. exempt or pendingexemption (see note below) for 50-state street-legal use. AEM says that though newer model year vehicles may be in "pending" status, and earning exemption status takes time, but it will be complete before your new vehicle's first smog check.

CARB - is Big Brother watching?

I'm just wondering what CARB stands for, and how far reaching are their tentacles?

CARB stands for the California Air Resources Board, and if you want to know which states are regulated by CARB standards, check out this link. This may affect what parts you can use legally on the highway, so it’s worth looking into.
