Auxiliary electrical components and accessories are the parts in your vehicle that deal with less essential functions. Examples of auxiliary electrical accessories and components are your car door locks, car horns, cruise control parts, and more.
It’s almost impossible to imagine life without auxiliary parts today. Why? Because without auxiliary parts, your cruise control, trunk and vehicle locks, and horn wouldn’t exist. In fact, it almost feels silly calling these parts auxiliary, since they have become so essential to modern driving.

Just think for a second about driving life without these less essential parts. It would be tiresome, inconvenient and exposed. Without cruise control to give your foot a rest during a long drive, you’re be exhausted. Without a trunk actuator to pop your cargo lid open with the push of a button, you’re fumbling for your keys every time you needed rear access. Without locks to secure your doors, you’re vulnerable to theft. And, who wants to imagine the safety hazards caused by the loss of your horn? We certainly don’t. In short, life without auxiliary parts is dismal. Life with them—sunny and bright.

There are a lot of reasons why your auxiliary parts stop working. One reason may be faulty auxiliary electrical components and accessories. For example, if your horn stops working, the problem could be with the horn contact or the horn assembly. It could also be a bad fuse, faulty wiring or simply a bad horn itself. Your local auto repair shop will be able to pinpoint the problem and let you know whether you need a single new part or a complete horn kit.

A faulty cruise control can be caused by various failing parts. If your cruise control is sticking, slipping, performing inconsistently or not performing at all, the problem may involve a number of parts, including the cruise control switch, cruise control actuator, cruise control amplifier, cruise control switch or cruise vacuum pump.

If your door locks and trunk locks are giving you trouble, the problem-causing culprits can vary. If one lock is working and others are not, the problem is probably with your door lock actuator or trunk actuator. If your doors are locking or unlocking inconsistently, the problem may be a faulty central lock switch. Your auto technician will be able to pinpoint the problem with a few diagnostic tests.
