I put this tailgate protector on my 71 Chevy pickup. My tailgate had a slight bow in it but the protector followed the contour just fine. I scribed a line on both sides and used electrical tape to protect the paint and help fill the gap.(two or three rows). You have to tweak them a little to make them fit snug. They are a little pricey but I suppose you get what you pay for. All in all a good product that really dressed up the back of my Chevy. Thanks Ray.

It fit horribly out of the box. 3/8 to 1/2 inch gap between tailgate and cap. I had to reform with considerable effort and then only fit adequately after I tore off the plastic cap, which was not in the instructions. Very disappointed and really how hard can it be the make a cap that fits the F150? There a gizzilion of them. Now that it is on, looks OK, but would not do it again. In hind sight I should have just gone to ford and got a new plastic cap to replace the scratched one...

The curve in the cover does not fit the tailgate. The curve in the tailgate is more round than the bend in the cover. The cover therefore does not fit tight on the outside edge of the tailgate.

Everything about the cap is perfect,, except it has a gap between the face of the tailgate more than there needs to be. If it had of been folded a little tighter it would have been a tighter fit with less gap.

I am pleased with my purchase, i had to look high and low inorder to find this guard, as far as i can tell Putco is the only maker of this for a Ford truck, my next purchase will be the side bed guards, thanks
