First it was delivered two houses down, second-the box had gaps at both ends so it had NO hardware. Then it wasn't wrapped in anything, no packaging to protect it so 2 out of the 4 corners were bent! It's pretty thin and I was able to flatten it out and came up with my own hardware to secure it and yes at the bottom as well.

Pic is deceiving, unless someone applied the diamond plate tail gate cap in the pic. This unit has a 90 degree bend. That is it. 2 screws and some sticky tape. It will get the job done. Keep tail gate from getting scratched up. Looks good on a white ford F-250. I will be adding some machine screws to the bottom.

I bought this to install on my "step" tailgate. I removed the pole and made 3 cuts on the protector so I could cover the step also. So it CAN work if you have the step and want a flat working area back there.

Part arrived with bent corners, but damage clearly not from shipping. Aluminum plate 1/2 the thickness of protector from Dee Zee on my 89 f-250 bought in 90.Did not wrap over tailgate, did cover top of tailgate but this edge created a snag point for anything you slide on gate into truck. Spent 3 hours hand fitting to sit flat on gate and rounding top edge to conform to gate and eliminate snag point.Dee Zee to dependent on stick tape. Used round head allens and plastic push fasteners.Nice bling

I did not order this for my new truck. The plastic cover on the top of my tailgait kept coming off and I wanted something to replace it. I thought the additional material over the rest of the tailgate would be nice. However this unit only covers the top of the tailgate - it does not wrap around to the outside. AND the way you attach the bottom of the protector to the tailgate, near the bed, is with TAPE. My tailgate already had a Line-X coating, plus dent and dings from use. I had to buy sheet metal screw to attach it. Heck, even if my truck was new, I'm not sure I would trust the tape to hold this thing down. This is for someone that want their truck to look like a work truck. This is not something for someone that used their truck for for work.

the sticky tape on the bottom is a joke i had to use rivets to secure the bottom but that's par for America these days On a good note the floor mats are great.......
