Surco bicycle rack is what I've been looking for

"I have been looking for a tire mounted bicyle rack for for a few months. After carefully researching possibilities, I decided on Surco OSI. Other mounts were less expensive but I made quality & safety my priority. I purchased the 3-bike rack because it appeared a bit "tight" to hold two trail bicycles. It is serving us well. The mounting bracket was not a perfect fit for our Honda CRV but it did mount firm and secure."

"Robust and relatively easy to use. Has a key to secure the bikes to the rack and a lock whole to secure the rack to the car. On my Honda CR-V the tire being placed asimetrically one of the bikes hangs to the outside of the right of the car by a foot."

"Rack works great. Very easy to install. You will need an adapter to attach most full suspension bikes though."

Locking frame secures bikes

"The OSI Spare Tire Mount 3 bike rack does a fine job of holding bikes in a secure fashion. The bikes lock into the rack, which is locked onto the tire support (with a padlock the user must buy himself--I found a nice weatherproof MasterLock). My only concerns are(1)that there is only one copy of the key that locks the bikes onto the rack -- if this key is lost the entire system fails and some work will be needed to cut the bikes out; (2)I can't find an outfit that can copy the "Euro Locks" key provided -- so I can't make myself a second copy; (3)The total weight of the rack, the tire and my two off-road bikes is around 125 pounds: my CR-V's rear door hinges are much more massive than its side door hinges, so I am not too worried, but I wish I knew what weight was too much, and I doubt I would carry three heavy bikes on this rack (4)I wish bike removal was a bit quicker.
Despite these concerns, I greatly appreciate the security provided by the sturdy construction and the locking capabilities: I wouldn't want to risk my bikes (or the safety of other drivers) on anything less secure."

Great for my first bike rack

"Since I've never had a bike rack before, I cannot compare this to other experiences.
It installed easily enough, I did need another hand at one point, but it was fairly straightforward. I am a short woman and yet find that I can lift the bike on and off without much trouble. I feel secure with the 2 locks - one on the rack where it mounts to the car and one where the bike sits.
It does wobble slightly in the junction between the vertical bar and the horizontal bracket that extends from the tire. It seems easy enough to put a stunt in there. I have left it alone for now and it is not an issue so far...figuring that may be the design, having some play. We'll see.
Happy with the rack!"

"I thought it was good but only thing you have to put a shim in to keep it straight on the mounting bracket."

"Very easy to put on, easy to take the bikes off. The only problem was that my spare was not big enough so I have to put some shims behind the base and tire."

"Strong and stable as all getout, but spinning the knobs makes taking bikes on & off rather time consuming. All in all, though, the peace of mind of knowing that the bikes are on there safely & securely makes me a fan of this rack."

"i have an oversized spare on my jeep wrangler, the extension bracket is a good idea but doesn't fit too well... so i had one of my buddies weld the extension to the rack itself now its hold a lot stronger... and it could use a little more padding where the bikes sit... i'm just looking out for my nice road bike! anyway its a good product, what else can you expect from a price like that!"

"The buying experience was really great. I found your site by doing a google for the part I needed. The piece was shipped quickly and installed easily. My only concern was that the vertical bar does not fit snuggly up to the tire. I empovise with some stiff foam padding. My tire is a normal wrangler tire. Is there a smaller post that the arm slips onto?"

"The bike rack was actually better than advertised. One of the top screw down knobs is a lock and works great. The bolt that fastens the rack to the spare tire can also be locked. The bikes were held very steady, not a quiver! We were very pleased with this product."
