"I've used this rack twice now and it's worked great both times. It's very sturdy. Only negative: it barely fits my womans road bike frame and I have an average sized frame (52). I would imagine anyone with a smaller frame wouldnt be able to use this rack (including kids bikes). Maybe there is a conversion kit of some kind?"

"I have not traveled yet with the bikes on the rack. I installed it in about 1/2 hour and was very pleased with the ease of installation. I put both bikes on the rack and they felt very secure even without the additional strap. I agree that the ladies bike posed a challenge but I found a good mounting for it and am looking forward to this weekend when we'll travel for the first time with the bikes on the rack."

"Owning a Jeep Liberty, I was looking for a bike rack to mount onto the spare tire. I checked Jeep, which was expensive. Over $100 more than the Thule. The rack works great for 2 bikes. Mounting was very easy. It's very sturdy. Only tricky thing was mounting a womans bike. A mans bike was much easier. Overall, a good rack at a good price."

"Thule bike rack fits great on the spare tire of my 09 Wrangler Unlimited. Holds 2 bikes with ease. Bit tight between the supports for my fiances bike (womens, shorter seat/handlebar spacing), but it gets the job done. Shipment as always from AutoAnything, fast as can be."

"After looking around at different styles of bike racks I finally chose the Thule Spare Me Tire Bike Rack for my 2006 Jeep Liberty. I love it. It looks great with or without a bike. It was really easy to assemble and carries the bike's just fine. The price is great too. One thing I really like is that I don't have to take the bike off to get in my rear door. The glass pop's up easily and the door swings great with a bike or two on. Thanks!"

"The Bike Rack is good, but it barely mounted on my back tire since it is a bit bigger than normal tires. All Terrain Rugged Tires. The Bike Racks also might be perfect for normal bikes, but it is a bit tough to fit 2 beach cruisers on there. (you can barely do so) Except than that it is a great bike rack and proved to be useful... I use it all the time, especially to take my bike to go surf in remote places. Will recommend it, if you are planning on putting 2 beach cruisers on there I would suggest looking at other alternatives"

"After having used a rack which needed to be attached with belts over the top of and the bottom of the fifth door on a Honda CRV, the Spare Me has been a joy to use. It certainly has encouraged my wife and I to drive to different locations, which normally would have involved using some busy roads to access, but have now become easily accessible with a "permanent" installation of our Spare Me. When not in use and folded down it looks good and having the option of different positioning makes it ideal for the CRV."

"I own a 1999 Honda CR-V and purchased this upon other recommendations on the web site, and couldn't be more pleased with both the ease of installation, and the sturdiness of the product. A nice feature is the ability to install in an "off-set" manner, since the spare on the CR-V is located on the rear right side. This enables the bikes to be more centered in the back of the vehicle, and helps during use of the passenger rear-view mirror. Two bikes fit snug and secure-- even before any extra fastening is utilized. I highly recommend this product."

"A great rack that does its job, but if you have a child's bike, like I do, the bike rack's forks may be spread too far apart to accomodate the smaller bike frame. We've been able to fit the kid's bike onto the rack (it only fits the outer bike position) but just barely. Also, have a few bungee cords available to really hold down your bikes securely and avoid any sway. Overall a great product, well constructed, worth the price, performs as advertised, fits a '99 CRV well. Recommended."

"I had a Thule hitch mount rack and I traded in my truck. I bought a smaller car. I purchased another brand rack to fit over the spare tire. I called the company after two days that the hardware was rusting. kindly, they replaced it. I brought it back for credit and purchased the Thule Spare Me from the web. I have used it a few times and think it is the same quality as the hitch mount which I loved. It's GREAT!"

Not a Perfect Fit

"The Spare MeT is not designed to fit the spare holder on a 1999 Isuzu Trooper, although you led us to believe that was the case. The problem: bolts don't protrude from the Trooper's spare mount, as shown in the installation instructions. Instead, our bolts inserted *into* the mount. Thus, it was necessary to hold tire and Spare MeT mount together _against_ the Trooper's spare mount. Pretty difficult, considering all that weight. The process took two people, lots of cussing, and a trick, which is too hard to describe. Now that it's mounted, we are quite happy with it's efficiency. Taking the Spare MT off will be much more difficult, we fear, and we dread our first flat."

"My box arrived open (untaped) at one end and that should have been my clue to return it right then, but I was anxious to get it installed. My bike shop was happy to install it for me and I watched and learned as he did it. I'm not happy with the cumbersome removal for car washes, etc and do not look forward to removing it myself. Upon installation, we found one of the front cradles had a broken notch of which the rubber strap fastens around. Completely unusable, and another one was defective in it's shaping. He advised me to call and ask for replacement cradles, which AutoAnything had Thule send to me free of charge. I haven't returned yet to the bike shop to see if these cradles will work for my rack, b/c upon examination of them, it seems they're missing a part of which the strap somehow is attached in the back of the cradle to make its wrap-around hold. To be continued. AutoAnything has been great, but I think I just got a broken unit and will have to end up exchanging for a completely new one. The few times I've used the rack, it's worked fine, esp with the blue anti-sway strap. I just need those broken cradles replaced or the entire unit. I may look into getting a hitch mount rack if not eventually satisfied."
