Description

Nothing can ever duplicate an original. Allen Bike Racks, the original trunk-mount racks with more than four decades of cycle-hauling experience, are living proof. Knock-offs and second-comers aren't nearly as easy to use, safe for your bikes or durable as Allen's Trunk Mount Bike Carrier.

Take this Allen Deluxe 2-Bike Carrier for example. It's ready to use right out of the box and clips to your auto without confusion. The soft saddles on each arm cradle your bikes' frames while a securing tie strap cinches them to the rack. And, it fits to any vehicle: sedans, hatchbacks, minivans, SUVs and even pickup tailgates.

Allen makes their products to last with sturdy steel tubing and a protective zinc plating. You can count on this rack to last through a lifetime of mountings, folding and storage. In fact, Allen stands behind your Deluxe 2-Bike Trunk-Mount Bike Carrier with a lifetime guarantee.

It is really easy to set up. The only problem is that the metal hooks could scratch the paint. So, you would need to purchase some rubber tubing to place between the hooks and the vehicle.

This is a recent purchase. I've used the rack twice, once on the Florida turnpike at high speed. The rack is easy to install and seems quite sturdy on my Acura TL. I was concerned that it might scratch the paint but it did not. My bike was very secure on the rack, using just one bungee cord along with it as a precaution. I also purchased the adapter since mine is a girl's bike and it worked great. No complaints. I recommend this rack. I looked at others available at local bike shops, more complicated, more expensive, and they were not reviewed as well. I have not tried it with 2 bikes yet, so cannot comment on that.

My Allen Bike Rack works just great ... I had a little trouble getting my bike to fit, so I had to order the adaptor bar ... but it finally fits and we've already been on the road.

Great rack for a beginer I had never used a bike rck before or even looked at one up close. This installed easy and we have not lost a bike yet so it must work well. Worth the money.

The bike rack is very easy to put on and take off of the car. It makes a tight fit to the truck and the bike is very secure at normal speeds and stays that way when turning corners.

I really like this bike rack. I was mystified by other reviews that said it was a little difficult to figure out how to set it up in the beginning because I found it couldn't be easier. I have a Ford Explorer and I had no trouble at all setting up this bike rack. It works fine with one or two bikes. It is relatively sturdy. It is easy to remove and folds up nicely.MY only complaint is that it came slightly scratched because something pierced the box in transit.

I used a Allen Bike Rack on my Mitsubishi Eclipse to carry my mountain bike from Whitefish, MT to Redmond, WA. and it was the scary thing I ever experience. I've never used the rack before, or any bike rack for that matter. The rack came right out of the box and onto the car. While going down Lookout Pass, one of the straps broke and if I had not had a bungee cord as backup, my bike would probably had came off the car right there on I-90. Also, the rack rocked sideways back and forth, so I had to drive very slow with one eye on the bike rack and one eye on the road. And on top of that, I had to disassemble part of my bike just so that it would go on the bike rack properly. It wasn't until I bought extra bungee cord and rope was I able to drive at the speed limit and with a little more faith that my allen bike rack deluxe 2 might stay together long enough for me to get to my destination without losing by bike or killing some one. Every time I stop, I had to inspect the bike rack, and each time I was amazed the rack was still intact because the metal parts that the straps ran through were so thin and feeble looking. If I had to recommend the allen bike rack to anyone, I wouldn't recommend it for long journeys.
