Description

If you have a rear-mounted spare tire, this is the bike rack for you: Allen's Deluxe 4-Bike Carrier. This version of Allen's time-tested bike racks, made exclusively for vehicles with rear-mounted spares, solves the age-old problem of carrying bikes and your extra donut at the same time.

The base of Allen's Deluxe 4-Bike Rack slips into any 2" receiver and is custom-designed to clear your bulky spare. Unlike other racks that mount over or directly to the wheel, Allen's design gives you fast access to the spare. If one of your tires bites the dust, simply pull the Deluxe Rack's pin to tilt it down and unbolt your spare. No mounting plates to hassle with, and no other roadblocks to getting back on the highway ASAP.

Beyond the unique design, Allen Deluxe Racks cradle up to 4 of your bikes in patented paint-safe saddles. Allen makes it easy to assemble and mount your rack in just minutes. Plus, they include a lifetime guarantee with your Deluxe 4-Bike Rack.

I read a lot of reviews before my purchase... My mom drives a Jeep Liberty and wanted a bike rack. There are 4 of us in the family so we wanted to be sure that it would accomodate. I went with this one b/c it did not require an adapter for a 2" hitch, therefore it does not wobble (love it!). Also, even though it is a VERY tight fit to get 4 adult bikes on there, it is capable. If you have some fancy bikes though I would not recommend putting 4 on there as they do rub and bump. It does suck that you cannot open the back of the vehicle completely, but the rack does adjust down to be able to access the window. What more could you ask for really?!?! I highly recommend!

I have a Jeep Liberty(2007) with a mounted spare tire. This bikerack clears it easily. Works well, minimal sway,if any.Just tighten all nuts and bolts as much as possible. I do use a bungee cord to stop the rack from moving around and clinking against the main bar while folded down...the noise is kinda irritating.Other than that,no complaints.I've hauled three bikes with no problems. Of course, you can't open the rear door, but the window does clear and can flip open. I recommend it.

The Allen bike rack came quickly and I am impressed with the quality and robustness of this product. Looks like it will give me years of service. I am able to open my back door about half way to gain reasonable access with the rack attached. The back window opens fully without any problem. I recommend this product.

Needed a rack to hold many bikes and fit around spare tire---this is the only one able to do the job. I wish the clamps that hold the bikes were more like some other brands, and I also wish it had an "anti-sway" bar (something hanging in between bikes to keep them from swaying forward and back. However, the unit is extremely solid and safe to use; so, despite a few minor wishes, I am delighted with its usefulness.

I would really like it better if I could open the rear gate on my Liberty without taking the rack off.

For the price, I suppose it's pretty good - you get what you pay for. It carries all four of our bikes with clearance for the tire on the FJ Cruiser. However, you can only open the door about 1/2 way on the FJ - if you can get the retaining pin out and actually tilt the rack. It is a pain to get the pin out and the mechanism is poorly built. If it weren't for the terrible retaining pin, I would give it a good to excellent rating. Oh well, you get what you pay for...it's worth the $150 I spent, but if you want to use it regularly and keep it attached to your vehicle, spend more $$ on a better rack.

We are, overall, pleased with the product. However, one of the clips broke off in the first use leaving the bike attached to the frame by one clip only! We need a replacement and certainly expect that autoanything/allen will supply one rfree of charge.

Worked out great for my Jeep. Cleared the spare tire with room to spare. Looks to be quality construction. Very easy to put together and install. Took about ten minutes. I would recommend this bike rack.

Easy to mount, Easy to use. Only issue is the non-rattle bolt makes it hard to put on/take off without a quick release pin of some kind. Will just replace it with one. Works great on my RV clearing the rear bumper mounted spare tire.
